Somewhat OT but they already allow NZ, UK, US & SG e-passport holders to use smartgate permanently and Swiss e-passport holders can use it on a trial basis.

It is my hope that they don't open up the proverbial doors to countries with large volumes of passengers (such as China) as this would just overpopulated the increasingly busy Smartgate lines..
FWIW the comment was directly related to a Thai passport holder using the express path lane with me and mention of Thai and other passports able to be used at our Smartgate soon.

I don't need any passes but the answer is of-course "C". But then it could be a trick question as I have not seen blackcat post under the influence so could be a possibility and JT would go to the opening of an envelope so could also be in the running. Therefore there is no correct answer as one is proved, one is probable and the other possible. ;)

Definitely "B". I've met too many black cats to be in any doubt there.
Penalty? Having taken the trouble to upgrade to J for an early morning flight, due to predicting the effects of the night before, then be stuck in the priority boarding lane behind an trespasser (and family) with poor English who can't realise that their square parcel is meant to fit in the measuring frame, not balance on top. And; to experience this in a country where justifiable homicide is rarely rewarded!

I'm going to say Ansett, betting on the fact that he has been used to some special treatment in the past and thought that he could get away with it! Perhaps the penalty of sitting at the back of the plane surrounded by crying babies might cause a splitting headache, thus less likely to be overindulging again!!

Still OT, but at BKK my wife always takes me through the Thai passport holders gate - even when she and I are travelling on our Aust passports. Beats the priority line and the aircrew. :D

I used the priority lane arriving into SYD the other day as I did not use Smartgate.

And FWIW I was advised that Smartgate will be available to certain foreign passports soon. Your guess is as good as mine on definition of soon and which foreign passports.

They're meant to be expanding it so most passengers can use it. It's meant to be based on the number of visitors from the particular country, so China would be high on the list on that score. The much more difficult visa process for PRC citizens though might mean that the Australian government doesn't want to make things easier on arrival either. AusBT has an article about it: Singapore passports now welcome at Australian airport SmartGates - Australian Business Traveller

Given that I'll be travelling with a PRC passport holder to MEL in July, I'd be quite happy to have smartgate thrown open to PRC passport holders. Certainly would be better than the "express" lane we had to use in arrivals last time.

While I'm here, I also get express cards for departure at MEL from SQ due to *G status. However I don't always use them so I might be willing to pass them on the friends or family who are travelling. But they do have a SQ logo on them. Are they only valid if the person has a SQ boarding pass or can anyone use them?

probably a bit late but take a baby....ours worked a treat to get to the front of the line ......customs lady screamed out " let the lady with the baby through"" ....and boom to the front of the line.
Don't stress we were in the US passport holders line- not the tourist line

Have you got anything to help get through LAX any quicker later this month ??

Ive not had my boarding pass V's express pass checked previously and Ive given people SQ passes to use on Air Fiji flights and they had no issues.

It's high time I distributed some of the Express Cards I have stashed away here - but of course we are all aware that there is no such thing as a free lunch right? Similarly - there is no such thing as a free Express Card!

In the entire history of commercial aviation in Australia which dodgy, devious and rabble rousing individual has caused the greatest degree of drunken mayhem and pandemonium resulting in their swift and deserved eviction from MEL QF F Lounge and what penalty / sanction do they rightfully deserve?

b) blackcat20

I have it on good authority that blackcat has done both Feb Fast and Dry July in the same year...
