Single male seating

Just a thought - is there an airline policy to seat single males together?

Took a quick trip Brisbane/Darwin return last week (Tiger) and noticed on each leg my two seat companions were also middle age males, each travelling alone. I understand the policy re children, but wonder if it also applies with women.

Hadn't noticed before, as usually accompanied by wife.

I guess it would depend on the airline but in the case of Tiger, as they don't accept UM's on their flights why would they care who sits where? I'm sure it's a case of more males travelling on that flight, possibly self funded FIFO travel to/from DRW.

I remember talking to a lady who had travelled on Royal Brunei (during Ramadan) between BWN & LHR and the airline separated her from her husband despite being on the same pnr & sat all males up the front of economy & all females down the back so it was obvious they didn't want any mingling of the sexes.

That would annoy me, and it would ensure that Mrs Harvyk would put BI on to the "I'd rather walk / swim list"

I really hope not - still waiting for the early-mid 20's single chick to be seated next to me.

BUT as I think I am the only under 25 with Gold status I don't like my chances :( :(

Should have spent more time chatting up the reds/silvers when I was seated back with them.

I share your concern! 21 year-old Plat over here. The lounge/J/Row 3 demo is never in my range.

*sigh* Do we need to create an AFF dating thread?

Yep that's the price we pay for status and shadows - the lounge angles can be alright and once you know a few FA's it's pretty good. But backpackers bars near my hotels are still the place to beat.

21/Plat isn't bad - I thought I was unique being 23/Gold!

O/T but relevant to recent posts: Is it Mrs Mart or Mr Smart ? [/OT]

Data point from earlier this week, as a single male traveller without an assigned seat I was placed in 13F (window, my pref) next to a female pax in the middle then another male on the aisle (they weren't traveling together far as I could tell).

BA made sure I was seated next to two females last weekend (LHR-DUB vv). At least BA doesn't discriminate (well, they did - my shadow didn't exist)

Wow that is impressive !
I'd imagine he was signed up as a kid by well-travelled parents ?
Aren't you doing sort of the same thing ?
Maybe your kids can beat his record lol

Probably harder to do now that schools are cracking down on students missing lessons to travel. ;)

Not a chance. We've seen the light and now pretty much use FFP for all long haul travel ... they'll get to see plenty of the world, but will only reach the dizzy heights of LTS before they leave the nest.
