Your thoughts please everyone.

Getting 160 is pretty easy but to get 165 efficiently is proving a little harder so I thought I'd ask the brains trust.

A return to OOL in J is pretty good value these days (~$7.6/SC), but not amazing. Unfortunately, that would still leave you 5SC short!

Thanks Sam. That one was already on the cards but I'm trying to 'efficiently' include the other 5SC.

MEL - AKL in F (EK), AKL - BNE in J (EK), BNE - MEL in flex(wh)Y (QF). Of course, all will need QF flight numbers.
Yes, $$$$.
OR do as many weekend discY/whY if you don't want to cross borders.
JQ also have *class some days, ie, what would be a QF J, you just need to plan it out, and have an (preferably) Aust passport/Aust driving licence to pass flying as a domestic pax on an international flight. 40 SC per time on the JQ A330.
Edit:
MEL - AKL in F (120), AKL - BNE in flex whY (40), BNE - MEL .in flex whY (30)=190.
Personally, I am planning a F Aust east to NZ for 120 each way. Gives me PS again.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing - ½ a day while in the USA last year would have been a doddle ...

It's tough to know how best to do without knowing how you have planned on that 160 and how to adapt.

Thanks for the thought. Bali is so far down my list of likely destinations that I'd need a whole other lifetime before going there :!:
That aside I could not fit it in this week.
Mon - Sale to Melbourne
Tue - Melbourne to Sale
Wed - At home.
Thur - Sale to Melbourne
Fri - Melbourne to Nadi.
Fiji for 2+ weeks.

I would still do the OOL thing, but one way of it as a D/J (ie business flex) fare, it's only $729 (IIRC) for the D fare and that would net 170 SC.

OK, so how do you do this?

I don't know myself, but presume choosing the flight that costs more means you are buying the flex ticket. Same for economy, as lower priced buckets sell out the ticket price increases, eventually necessitating a flex ticket instead of a discount economy (with appropriate earning increases), so you just need to pick a flight combo home that includes the higher priced options. I'll test that theory out shortly.

Edit: As soon as I chose the $729 return instead of $609 (only the return, not going) the SC earned jumped up by 10SC. You can thank Simpler and Fairer™ ;)

Yep I just checked it, genius and cheers RichardMEL I learnt something tonight!

I didn't even think of booking into the higher fare bucket. Nice play!

yep. for a change it's not an insane mark up and gets the result. :)

yep, beat me to the explanation. the other way would be to get a TA to manually book it on flights the website is still offering at the I price ($609) but that works fine on the website. I figure yes it's $120 for 10SC which is not great, but the overall price is spot on to reach the goal....
