Flights may be cheap but the prices of resorts are pretty high plus the falling AUD doesn't help.

These fares are around every year (yep I book them :) ) about this time and blanket advertised on radio/tv/etc.

Recon there will be a lot more cheap filghts offer to Hawaii and US mainland as the AUD has crashed against to USD, by the time the bank takes their cut it's like lose 25% in value, so they have to fill the planes up somehow.

There is a good one on Living Social at the moment that was well regarded on Trip A for $500 x 5 n for 2 people. Just found it:

Thanks, yeah I will be back in Honolulu in seven weeks time and given I was a Starwood fanatic I've only stayed at either the Westin Moana, Royal Hawaiian, Sheraton Waikiki. Will be back at the Sheraton Waikiki as the RH, which I prefer, is priced a bit out of my budget.

My best ever JQi fare SYD-HNL was $590 for two people ($245 each!!) return in November 2008 :) :) AUDollar was trading at 0.64 then :( :( :(

Yeah you're pretty correct as $299 o/w seems to be the normal and best sale fares nowadays.

They make for very good options for one ways to either the US or canada as well. Booking onward RT isnt so much a benifit unless you want a stopover there as part of the trip esp when NZ do the $750 sales to LAX

Particularly as you're not penalised by paying more to travel one way when not booking a round trip journey as it's a LCC fare structure.

A handy way to start the trip off if you want to go around the world but on separate tickets eg:

Aust/HNL (JQ sale fare)
HNL/Caribbean (AA KUPP)
Caribbean/Europe (QF partner award, AA Miles SAAver etc)
Europe/Australia (ditto to above or even a cheap paid fare)

Any thoughts as to when the flights to/from HNL for mid Dec 2015 onwards will be released?

when i looked the other day there already were? was up still around xmas, its either 330 or 350 days in advance i think

Just remember, make any change and you'll pay for it big time with el cheap flights on the likes of JQ unless you take the top package, then you might as well go on full service airline.

But if you buy the plus bundle eg of $59.00 I'm sure that allows one free flight date change so you'd only pay the ad coll in fares, no actual change fee as opposed to the much more expensive 'starter max' fare that's hundreds of dollars more than the sale fare.

Jetstar first carrier to kick start 787 services to Hawaii next week, only on SYD-HNL. Expect Melbourne Q4 of this year.

Must have changed bundle in past year, I had to fight tooth and nail to get it done and still got slugged, never ever again.

I had an online conversation with a JQ person (I was looking at availability & a pop-up appeared asking if I wanted to chat to someone) as we need to change an AUD379.00 JQ sale fare BNE/HNL to a different date & I asked if there was any change fee if I'd paid the plus bundle & they said no.

I also thought that the plus bundle allowed a one time change free or charge however the CSR mentioned that I could change as much as I wanted and pay only the airfare difference. As it happens the same fare is available on the new date however when I go to change online it comes up with some charge of AUD58.70 total for both pax (or AUD29.35 each) and don't know wha this is for.

I ignored the changes as we're still sorting out what the new date of travel will be however I'm curious how to change it myself online via MMB without incurring charges. The good thing is at the end of the conversation you can print out the conversation for your records plus save it as a pdf doc as well.
