Does anybody here have a booking to fly the new 'Mint' business class in the USA soon? It looks amazing and might even give the new Qantas 'business suite' a run for its money!

With JetBlue launching its revolutionary Mint business class on flights between Los Angeles and New York this month, with NY-San Francisco to follow by year's end, Australian Business Traveller gets up close with the unique Mint lie-flat seats and personal suites. Mint is a ‘knock it out of the park’ approach to premium travel on the increasingly competitive US transcontinental route.

Guaranteed I would dong my head a couple of times when talking to my seat buddy with that middle divider post.

Has anybody tried flying this ?
Looks and sounds very solid. Lie flat seats with restaurant grade food and US$599 one way ? Better value than AA surely ?

Interesting. Looks great and curious how it compares to AA F on their 321 - which I've previously snagged for less than $599 US.

Yeh but if I recall correctly you got some sort of promo or were opportunitistic on a mistake fare etc.

Nothing wrong with that of course but my point is that that's not the price we can reasonably expect to pay for AA 321 F.

On the other hand US$599 is jetblue's regular everyday price that anybody can get at anytime.

The equivalent 'standard' pricing for AA 321 F is around US$2k one way I know coz I've been looking for it lol

Correct, it was a YUPP fare.

I have a feeling Jetblues offering will be far superior. Which is amazing for the price.

Never flown JetBlue before - how does their soft product rate?

I've only flown them in Y, but would have no hesitation flying them again. 1 bag, snacks & drinks free IIRC. Actually, I think I took the "even more" option for ~ US $19. A very comfortable domestic US flight (better than AA or DL).

Looking at a KUPP HNL/AUA & notice AA have a redeye LAX/MIA operated by a '32B' ie A321 with seat guru stating that they are 'recliner seats' unlike B6's full flats.

Will be interesting to see if the 321 on AA in F is better than their 763.

AA's 321s have full flat in F.

US airways does not.

if the flights in question are AA it should be fine, the seat map will indicate the seating.

There are two different configs on the AA A321 and the one we're travelling on LAX/MIA is the recliner A321 (32B) V2 below which has 16 recliner seats. :(

The other version is the A321 (32B) V1 Transcon which has 10 flat bed seats which is the version you're talking about. They are easily identifiable by the seat map during the booking process on the AA website so before you click the purchase button you know what aircraft you'll be on.

I see what you mean - strange however AA doesn't list the regular 321 in their fleet - only the 321T.

The top picture (recliner seats) actually looks like business class on the 321T - full flats, rather than the recliner seats which are shown in seat guru, which are the standard 38 inch pitch seats you'd find on their regular fleet (like on the MD80). The ones in your top picture are greater than 38'.

If you can change your flight, the one to go for is the 777 - full international suites.

It sounds like AA's A321 V1 transcon configs are only operating on LAX or SFO to JFK & vv at this stage so can't see any of those flights that come up in KUPP's ex HNL to the Caribbean unfortunately plus I'm not keen on paying the USD150.00 change fee as despite travelling in the F cabin it's economy class fare conditions.

There's a review of these flat beds in F from The Points Guy who says they're the same seats as on the AA 777-300. Some of the reader comments aren't that complimentary with one saying that they prefer Delta's Biz Elite.

$150 might be a fair price to pay for a 6 hour flight to go from a QF dom J seat to an F suite on the 777? (if its available)

The best I can do is find AA12 or similar LAX/JFK however it will only display that flight in J on the KUPP & specifying 'F or higher' in the search will only give you options via MIA. I've never seen F as an option on the 777 or 321.

It's interesting that the Expert Flyer seat map shows the J cabin seating on AA12 as lie flat seats however it's a 2 x 2 config so not quite the same as 'proper F' angled suites where there's only one seat on each side of the aircraft.

my mistake. If you're coming from HNL I don't think you can connect with the 777... which operates the other way MIA-LAX.

AA's 763 services to DFW are prolly the best of the bunch out of HNL (AA8).

A KUPP will often go into business class on a three class aircraft.
