Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

Hubby will be there next Tuesday - lucky dude!

his QF flight leaves Lax 10:20pm. He has to check out hilton lax 12 noon. What time can he check in, and go to this lounge?

Qantas LAX "evening" check-in opens at 4pm. He'll be able to go to the lounge as soon as he is through security. If he has any status with Hilton the Hilton LAX is often happy to extend the 12 noon check-out time for a few hours without charge.

Thanks, PeteJ. Hubby is hh gold. I will tell him to ask for a late checkout, then he can take shuttle bus to airport.

Missed it by 10 days... typical.

The business lounge the other day was poor. Crowded, though in part caused by very selfish pax who took up ridiculous seats when travelling solo. Food was appalling, and I made the mistake of having a hot dog which was so much worse than street vendors in US cities. Aussies avoid at all costs. Salads were nice though. Fortunately I was flying F so for once wasn't too worried about food.

What redeemed the lounge was the lovely staff, particularly at the bar who were engaging, friendly and very helpful. So I have high hopes for the new F lounge and a more relaxed J lounge with better kitchens and food options.

Qantas opens new First Lounge in Los Angeles
Today we have opened the doors to our new First Lounge in Los Angeles, offering our corporate customers a spacious and luxurious space to dine, relax, work and socialise. It is the first overseas Qantas First lounge to be designed by renowned Australian industrial designer, Marc Newson and is based on the flagship multi-award winning Qantas First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne. The new Qantas First Lounge features:
Seating for more than 200 customers including a 74-seat a la carte restaurant
A 14.6m long Carrara marble bar and open kitchen
LA's first Neil Perry restaurant offering an a la carte menu of Rockpool Bar and Grill dishes, LA-inspired cuisine and favourites from the First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne
Premium Australian and Californian wines, signature coughtails, champagne, iced teas and a full barista service
Californian Knoll furniture selected by Marc Newson
An atrium area providing natural light with lounge seating for relaxing
Private work suites, TVs, faster WiFi, wireless printing capabilities and shower suites with Aurora Spa ASPAR products
Signature Sofitel service offered to customers travelling in First, including dedicated check-in, fast-track immigration and dedicated boarding.
The new lounge is symbolic of our continued investment in our customers and commitment to the US market. We are the only airline to operate non-stop A380 services between Australia and the United States, we've recently introduced the A380 on services between Sydney and Dallas/Fort Worth and opened a new Business Lounge in LA in June. The opening of the new First Lounge will also be a great benefit to other Qantas customers, freeing up space for those who use our recently opened new Business Lounge in LA. Full details of the new Los Angeles Qantas First Lounge experience, including a fact sheet, is available here. Yours sincerely,

Then prolem is solos travellers occupying pairs of seats along the window, leaving nowhere for people travelling in pairs....if the solos paired up there would be so much more space. Heaven forbid we might need to talk to a stranger

Which side of the lounge is the F section on? Is it adjacent to where the self serve food section is?

Or maybe Marc Newson could find it in his genius to put some non paired seats in ( assuming there are none).

Yes, heaven forbid I need to talk with a stranger, or a stranger decides they need to have a conversation with me.

I've been to that one a few times! :D

anyway In n Out is a chain with a pretty simple menu which they do well. It's not gourmet or anything, but it's far more real than your maccas or burger king fare (and they have a secret menu, but that's a whole other thing). It's not fancy but it's fresh, it's pretty quick, you can see the entire process, and it's a bit old fashioned (I think it's been going since the 40's). There are a few of these regional chains out there. Dick's in the Northwest is another. If I've got a burger craving I'd much rather go to In n Out ...

The LAX one is well known as it's not far from the terminals and under an approach path so you can sit out there in (usually) fine weather with a burger some nice chips and a drink and watch the heavy metal come in.

Cranky Flier holds his dorkfests there every year, amongst other things.

Will make the decision to leave T4 and recheck through security at TBIT much easier.
No more transfer bus for me. Providing I hold an F ticket (which I will in May next year).

I think it is very common for the LV traveller to enter this restaurant.
A bit off topic, but if passing "Strip Burger' at Fashion Show Mall on the Strip, don't pass it. Best Burgers in the WORLD (IMO ;))
