Hi all,

My partner and I have recently decided relocate to the UK in March 2015 due to personal reasons and her entire family being from the UK.

Just after some words of advise from people that have relocated overseas.
We plan on selling most of our furniture and purchasing new over there. ( 1 Bedroom Unit)

Can anyone recommend a moving company? Only looking at sending 4-5 boxes of clothes, paperwork, bit and pieces etc. As well as 2 snowboards in bags.
Also, if anyone on here has recruitment contacts in the UK that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Pay a professional. I did Australia to Switzerland almost 12 months ago through Allied Pickfords - they take care of the packing, customs, shipping etc.

Start throwing/selling stuff now...

Yes, use a shipping agent. Air freight is expensive so send by sea - ship takes about 6 weeks all up to the UK. Make sure the quote includes door to door service i.e. including road transport to your address at the other end and all other costs associated with unloading, harbour/dock fees etc. Some companies don't include them in the quote and spring them on you when they reach the destination port. Don't send too early unless there's someone at the other end who can take delivery for you, otherwise they might hit you up for additional storage fees.

Have airline status and then buy extra where you can, I moved 4 suitcases plus 2 carry on bags on Virgin when moving to Perth 18 months ago.

Get rid of everything you can.

It also depends whether you have parents who can store some of your things rent free, and then every time you come back you take more with you.

I still have a book case and a grand father clock at my parents place so not sure how easy they are as checked luggage.

Marine currently...

My plan is to throw/sell as much as possible!! Girlfriend is a bit of a different story..

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
