JQ 787 Config and ops - domestic runs in Nov.

There was a similar thread on this a while ago - they have been cancelling a lot of domestic runs recently (particularly for people doing lounge runs)...........my JQ38 was 'cancelled' today so was offered another domestic flight and yet, lo and behold............it is operating today.

So not only are they cancelling due to poor loads (as expected) but they are moving domestic people off these flights no doubt to sell more INTL seats..........

Anyone else experienced this or is it just me?

Poor form JQ...............

A little birdy told me JQ have been trashing their 787s so some maintenance requirements have arisen sooner than expected. Poor planning has meant they've had to cancel flights in order to do this (CASA won't allow anymore extensions) so several DPS flights have been cancelled.
The birdy also told me the strategy of running two completely different wide bodies in their fleet has been a disaster from a costs and logistics perspective.

I did a recent JQ35 SYD/MEL on the 787 & found the majority of pax on the flight were domestic pax as there was a really big queue in the 'D' lane which was much longer than the queue from true international pax eg off the WLG flight. While we were waiting to disembark all the boarding passes I saw people clutching had the orange 'D' sticker on them.

This was also during school holidays so it had a bigger load factor. Not sure how many pax onboard however the middle seat shadow we hoped might stick with our A&C seat selection didn't eventuate but there was a spare seat in the row behind (as murphy's law dictates).

I'm not sure how many were continuing on to DPS however I can't see why pax in SYD would fly JQ35 SYD/DPS (via MEL) when there was a non-stop 787 operated flight JQ37 SYD/DPS that day unless the JQ35 was significantly cheaper. I would think the majority of people flying on JQ35 ex MEL would've been joining pax.

On a Tuesday ex SYD there is also the 332 service JQ10 SYD/MEL which departs after JQ35 so if one of those flights was to get cancelled between SYD & MEL that still leaves you with another international departure to choose from.
