Krisflyer *A redemption experience?

Yes have redeemed *A J on:
SAA
Thai
Egypt Air

I had a hold on a LH, as I was booking at late notice fora family of 4 to go to Paris from Melb in J, and a combination of Thai and LH could get there. Was a bit indirection, with some long layover times. I was very friendly with the CSO and so she offered to see what she could do. 4 hours later she rang back with 4 tickets on Thai flying as direct as you can. ie MEL-Bangkok-CDG

It is all very easy. I just ring up, and normally only takes a few minutes, if you have already checked availability in advance.

It used to be better value before the new *A table. Some of the African flights were very cheap points wise...and still are.

I have also booked VA via SQ as MEL-CNS return is much cheaper than with VA direct and with no taxes.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I recently booked a LX & TG itinerary. I checked availability beforehand, gave the agent the flights I wanted and she booked it within minutes. Be prepared for OMG taxes and note that the taxes you get quoted are in Singapore dollars.

Thanks for the insights.

What tools did you use to check LH/ LX availability?

Am guessing using United.com would work for Thai.

Hey tdogshookem,
I used KF to redeem LH F in July this year. Cost was 122,500 one-way HKG-FRA on the 747-8i.
LH only release F availability to KF (or any *A partner) 14 days out maximum, although it could be 11 days, 7 days... it changes depending on route, day of the week and loadings.
Also don't count on any seats being released, as sometimes (especially ex-SIN) they might go a month without releasing a single LH F award seat to *A partners. You'll have more luck ex-HKG, HND and PEK. PVG is harder.
For what it's worth, the experience was absolutely excellent and I am an LH F convert as a result. I'd take it over SQ Suites (which I have flown in on at least 20 sectors).
I've purchased revenue tickets SIN-FRA-SIN in F on their A380 for our Christmas holidays as I want to show my other half.
I used the ANA tool to find award availability. For me it's always been accurate, I then call the KF call centre to book.
LX F is not available to *A partners. Only Miles & More members with status of SEN (*G) or above can book LX F award flights. J (or C as they call it), however, is available.
Hope this helps. I have been doing a LOT of research into LH F, both buying (which is difficult from Australia if you want to fly F all the way to Europe) and booking awards... so feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions.
