Nope - there are fists flying and sexual assualts.
Perhaps the kind of scenario where authorities can step in to maintain peace and order.

Sounds somewhat like Thailand's opposing red shirts and yellow shirts

Did they get to vote for a governor when it was under British rule ?
More importantly, the Sino-British declaration guarantees autonomy and democratic elections for HK - China has no legal standing to be involving itself in the Chief Executive elections which is why its created a sham model through a rigged consultative process to insert itself as effectively the electoral college for the candidates that go to popular vote
It is always amusing to see the 50c brigade claim the communist model is the same as the US Electoral College - ignoring the fact that US Electoral College delegates are bound to vote in accordance with the majority vote of their state.
I think you may find that China gets rather more of a role in determining what is civilised in the 21st century than we do and anyone with a modicum of historical knowledge would know they have been "civilised" way before those of us with European descent were.China needs to move into the 21st century along with the rest of the civilised world. Their problem though is they haven't quite embraced the 20th century yet.

Unless you think oppression is a sign of being civilised then I am afraid they are way off the mark.I think you may find that China gets rather more of a role in determining what is civilised in the 21st century than we do and anyone with a modicum of historical knowledge would know they have been "civilised" way before those of us with European descent were.
The present is more important to me and I can see what China is doing and how a lot of its people behave when they leave their country to visit other countries. I wouldn't describe it as civilised. Arrogant and rude is closer to the mark.
Ah yes the good old Bogans. And people wonder why I try to avoid them when I go overseas. And the irony is you could substitute 'Australia' for 'China' in your sentence. Look at the way Australians behave when they go to Thailand or Bali.
I can only judge by what I have seen. And so far it is not good. Actually it is atrocious. It is very hard to judge China unless you have lived there for an extended period of time there.
