Which airline provides the most comfortable business class flight BNE/LAX?

For direct flights, it's a choice between QF and VA - I find them both comfortable with the VA soft product better then Qantas.

It depends what your budget is too. If money is no object you might consider the major carriers. If you are looking to get value for money, Fiji Airways can do the return for around $3700 with a stop in Nadi each way.

I've only done VA J once but I would swear the bed was horizontal to the floor. It certainly wasn't angled like QF sky bed mk 1.

I would argue that Air NZ is a better option than Qantas or Virgin.

The seat is far superior to either, but more importantly on the flight up to LAX the detour via Auckland means that you get several hours sleep, whereas with both QF and VA sleep is practically impossible northbound.

In this context it means a flat bed however either end will not be equidistant to the ground ie angled but will provide a flat surface

180° means the seat back and the seat form a strait line ... That strait line may or may not be parallel with the floor.

Some may state that 180° means parallel to the floor but that 180° must relate to something and I know not what you would need to relate it to definitively for that parallel.

For mine if relating a flat seat to being parallel with the floor then a relative 0° would be an accurate term.

Agreed. If you don't mind the stopover in AKL, NZ's Business Premier on the 777 beats both QF and VA in hard and soft product IMHO.

im hoping your memory is good. im flying SYD -LAX in a week and i was of the understanding they were fully flat and parallel to floor. If they arent, certainly hoping its negligible angle.

I thought so too. I found that I had to use the bed button to get it into flat mode, then use the footrest button to raise/tilt to get it not-so-angled towards the floor (but still 180 flat).

Apologies - VA 77W Business seats do indeed go fully flat & parallel with the floor. even though I have enjoyed them several times, this was not apparent to me in row 5.

Spend a few hours at the bar, then nothing will be apparent
