Re: New J Class product

There will be a possible BNE opening for sure ....... the Etihad Airbus A330-200 service on the 'Brisbane -Singapore- Abu Dhabi' route is going to end on June 1, 2015 when it becomes a non stop BNE / AUH service on one of the new Etihad 787-9.

Given that, VA could do a Brisbane - Singapore service with their updated J product on board their A330's ...... More 738's on the Brisbane Perth run being the cost paid to make it happen ...........that new VA service would link up with some other SQ pairings when the Etihad Brisbane - Singapore legs goes on June1 ....

There must be plenty of VA insider who know for sure the new Int. route ............. It will surface so than later ....... Loose lips and all.

Brisbane is already down to only one A330 I think 5 times a week as it is.

Couldn't that fact probably makes it an easier call to kill all the 330's off on that route ? Then pushing the improved 738 J offer on Perth - Brisbane .......I know that's a lesser offer coast to coast, but something is going to have to give in the short term to open up a new A330 Int. route. BNE wide bodies to Perth would be given up before the SYD or MEL services

Re: New J Class product

I am surprised that they didn't plump for the SQ Long Haul seat, given their current A330 is the SQ Regional seat. Runway Girl rates it 3 spots higher than the seat which QF is installing: their ascending ranking is - staggered aisle access (e.g. new QF), herringbone (e.g. VS), reverse herring bone (e.g. CX), sofa style (e.g. SQ) - The 19 different kinds of aircraft seating in 2014 - Runway GirlRunway Girl)

The SQ regional seat which is same as current VA A330 J seat is an off the shelf product. The SQ long haul seat is a proprietary SQ product and is not available to other airlines. It's also very overrated and a lousy seat to sleep in IMO.

The worst thing is booking a J on SQ and the lottery between recliner and new J which is sometimes a bummer. VA's current 330 J isn't bad tbh but am looking forward to the new J.

It makes me wonder if they are still going for 5 rows of J on possibly enhance premium and cut some Y seats off in order to accommodate more of the new J seats. Current is 33 seats and if they went with 5 rows of 1 -2 - 1 it would only be 20 seats. thats a loss of 13 J seats unless the J pricing would be increased.

I still haven't seen definitive evidence ie an official release from VA that the Cirrus seat is what they are getting so it all remains speculative. I don't know of any other airline using the Cirrus on the A332, are there any? I don't think any SQ J ex Australia is using recliners! Are they using recliners at all anymore, I think all the 772/3s have been refitted.

Obviously CX have it on the A333 which has the same cabin width.

You have trouble sleeping on the SQ Diamond seats? How tall are you or do you just find them uncomfortable? Too hard?

I'm about 186cm not huge but not petite either and size 13 feet. I find that I really have to cramp myself in at fairly compromised angles that don't allow much freedom of movement and having my head and feet crammed into notches. I also can't stretch out fully. Yes it is pretty hard too! I prefer other options that are out there, especially the CX seat and the much maligned VS/NZ seat which provides a good straight bed with shoulder room.

Re: New J Class product

Ok understood - I am just 181 and size 9 feet - (girls are you aware of correlation between males feet size and ........... ) - I do agree they are a tad on hard side - but I am usually pretty loaded on champers one way or another and always drop a sleeping tab so it's no problem for me. I do know people who just do not sleep a wink on any flts - wouldn't you hate that?

Re: New J Class product

I'm not talking about width, length is the issue here!

Obviously the number of J seats may be compromised if they wish to keep the Y cabin the same. I don't have the figures on the required floorspace right now so I can't work out actual numbers.

Re: New J Class product

Anyone know the day or date they poss announce the new j class

Re: New J Class product

Not much of a surprise here really with either seat selection or rumoured destination. Will be more fun watching the already mentioned ugh! I've been downgraded to an old 330 posts. Keeping in mind old in this context is about 12 months. It will be quite amusing to see the now much lauded and desirable regional seats become the product that everyone complains about.

Considering that only a couple of years back that the norm was a recliner at ~38inches, those in J transcon are getting spoilt for hard product.

VA have certainly been ramping up J pricing on longhaul Dom over the past year, easing people into higher prices may come with a nice seat, although if 1-2-1 configuration ,the reduction in seats mean those who want it will have to pay for it.The fools paradise of points & yearly Flex to J upgrades are going to be much harder to get. There is no way they will reduce Y cabin seats , J as a full paid product (not sale fares) is declining in the most import area as businesses crack down on travel spend.Reducing J cap only adds to the cost bottom line if filling them with real paying punters. Reducing Y cab increases costs ,and lets face it, most travel in Y.

VA don't do J trans tasman

Re: New J Class product

XFJ is about to land in Cingapura ;)

Little bit of a hussle if it's going to be VA crew or VAI crew for the 330
