Hi everyone
Anyone else had the great pleasure of toasted sandwiches in the Qantas Club? Breakfast last Monday and Dinner Saturday night, my two times in the club for the week this is what they were serving.... I know they are trying to save some cash but people pay a pretty hefty price for what can now be had for a few $$'s out in the main part of the airport....

It's an ongoing problem in both QF and VA lounges, though at least VA are now apparently providing scrambled eggs at breakfast. Dinner options in the QP seem to be ok though, theres usually a hot pasta dish.

Problem??? The machines were added to what was available, not replacing anything.

Not a problem for breakfasts, quite nice to be added in.... but at dinner time I would expect a little bit more than some ham, cheese and tomato toasties.... They did have soup I guess?

Which Qantas Club or Clubs?

It's a problem at dinner time when you want a meal, not a sandwich. Or when you've been in three lounges over the course of the day and had three sangas as breakfast, lunch and dinner. I never used the lounges pre-machine, did they only offer salad? Or did they actually have hot options?

That might be the theory, but reality is a bit more tedious. They cut back other hot food in the evenings until later and sometimes not at all from my own experience.

Food and beveridge choice is on the decline to the cheap options. Is this QF directing this or contractors running the lounges. Doesn't really matter, QF put their name to it.

Have they cut back on hot options only recently? I have noted hot options such as chicken wings as recent as June/July in the evenings.

My experience suggests the opposite, as an example both CNS and DRW have only recently added hot food, I wonder if it's related to lounge manager budgets in terms of consistency between locations?

When I asked, staff told me (Melbourne) instead of hot food at say 4pm, it doesn't start until 6pm.

I was in the SYD VA lounge at breakfast time and the MEL QP at dinner time this week - there was no evidence of either :)

I can remember hot food in the lounge prior to getting on 773. But yes it can be inconsistent

Thats another problem: consistency! You don't know when or where to expect to find the good food.... BNE and ADL QPs both had hot food available at dinner time. Haven't been in the MEL lounge at the right time to see. MEL VA certainly didnt have anything good for breakfast in June...

I arrived Sydney VA Lounge 5.30am last Monday morning.
Toasted Sangas available, and scrambled eggs and bacon were put out about 5.45am, just as I took my Sanga off the grill

I think its a norm unless or till you can get to fly QFi or with an international partner of QF, ergo using QFi J or F lounges.
Sangers are cheap. Cheap to keep till needed, cheap to make, and the bread does not need to be kept warm.

There is no norm, ie 4PM at the TSV QP Sausage Rolls and Pasta Bake are on offer.ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1409205220.715770.jpg

The toasters were added a few years ago as an option if you didn't like what was on offer.

It appears at certain times that toasted sandwiches are the only thing that is going on offer.

Pretty poor really.

Agree the inconsistency is poor. But I have consistently had good dining experiences in Cairns and Townsville - often far better in terms of hot and cold food options than Canberra's J lounge.

Just about everything to do with Qantas is going downhill. Travelling business the food is mostly cough. Economy I don't eat at all. The lounge food is horrible and unhygienic. Quite a number of times when going to the lavatory I notice guys not washing their hands afterwards, then going to the food counter. I actually say something to them then. Not impressed with Qantas at all, just wish there was some decent competition. The only thing that is still of value is the first class lounge at Sydney and Melbourne international.
