Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Is bankwest really STUPID (come on we know they are stupid for the 5 points per transaction) and not enforcing one of their own rules? number 3 this comes up when I go to apply through the internet banking website

I agree that:

  • I am over 18 years old.
  • I can deposit a minimum of $2,000 per month (e.g. salary).
  • I do not already have a Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account.
  • I have read and accept the Privacy Statement and Consent, which includes consent to Bankwest electronically verifying my identitywith a credit reporting body so that they can provide an assessment based on matching the information I provide with any credit files they hold.

They didn't enforce it for my second, but my third it didn't open instantly and I got a rejection email a few hours later, lol.

EDIT: DBMC = debit mastercard.

Unlike most banks BW does not kill your DBMC when you obtain the platinum version.

Anyone using a normal DBMC request an upgrade to platinum through online banking (send them a message). Once you've got it you now can make 100 transactions per day.

Awesome! I actually called up a while back and said that my card had snapped, unfortunately they sent out a replacement card which was identical to the original. I'm going to order a platinum card now. In addition you can also set up an awards account. Same principle as the QF account, its just BWs own rewards points(not as good as QF).

Did the new card have the same expiry/ccv? CBA issue new expiry dates on damaged cards so allow for extra transactions. Not sure if BW do.

As soon as my bonus points come through in a couple of weeks I'll be closing bankwest, going back to ING; has been fun earning points but this relationship was always only ever going to last 3-4 months ;)

Absolutely identical with same ccv and expiry.

I requested a platinum card today and was advised that the existing card will be deactivated, I'm assuming this isn't the case, unless they have changed it?

Getting a new error through Optus Pay My Account:
We are unable to determine that status of your transaction. Please contact your financial institution.

I can still make $0.01 transactions but I have to wait at least 2 minutes between transactions

I gave up with optus, now do telstra.....

BUT.... I now have made it a 15 second wait period, I I usually recieved an error that they were having troubles (too slow, dropping out etc...) processing the payment.

No problems / errors with the 15 second wait. I do make an extra one, just incase one of the 50 did get missed!

I don't have a telstra account to pay, unless I obtain my dad's account number, he's 1,350kms away :p

It has been fun finding ways to earn the points. As soon the bonus points come through Bankwest will be closed and I'm going back to my main bank.

Offer to pay $15 of his bill each month. ;)

1c transactions for a month = 7,500 points! All for less then $20!

Stuff it with robots and scripts... plus cycling $2000 through the account to avoid the monthly fee.... whilst doing errands today I closed my account.

I got what I wanted, so that's it...

An update on the situation that I have:

Optus
Using MyAccount, https://www.optus.com.au/customercentre/myaccountlogin, I couldn't get it process less than $1.
Using Paymybill, http://www.optus.com.au/paymybill, was working fine for a few days with 1 cent transactions but now seems to have changed to $1 too.

Are there any other Optus options? Which are you using benjy?

Telstra
I have a script working for 1 cent transactions but I can only get it to work online. Previously I was getting Optus to run overnight but can't seem to get Telstra to work that way.

Water Company
Accepts 5 cent transactions as the minimum. Easy to script but seems to only allow 1 an hour or so. I'm still trying to determine the time that must lapse between transactions.

Energy Company
Accepts 5 cent as the minimum. I haven't bothered scripting it as yet.

You don't really need all those options when you can only do 50 transactions a day (or are you managing to do 50 transactions per supplier?).

You shouldn't really need to be running scripts overnight - I do my Telstra 50 x payments of 5c for two bank west cards and each run takes 10-15 minutes.

Well Optus doesnt work with scripting any more, Telstra only works if you have a Telstra bill (and many would have moved elsewhere over the years), Water company only allows a limited number of transactions before it seems to fail, so for me I probably do need that many!

I am with Vodafone and seems you need to leave it a couple of minutes between payments... Downloaded iMacro and recorded but couldn't see anywhere where you could tell it to delay for x minutes between each loop, so a bit of a pain in the butt....

Also once you pay the bill you might not get notification of another bill for a few weeks, what do you do while waiting for the next bill to come???
