Flying SYD-LAS with the LAX-LAS sector booked as a VA codeshare on Virgin America.

I'm a platinum member and ticketed in premium economy.

Just wondering what my seating options are for this sector. Can I make a seating request or do I have to take what I'm given?

I see that as platinum I get priority screening, priority boarding and lounge access at LAX but not sure on seating.

Seating doesn't seem to be a benefit for WP in the partnership.

Can you select a seat at all?

I'm doing the same leg in a couple of weeks, and I can actually see the map of the plane (and select from them), but if I try to save it I get an error.
I haven't yet had a chance to call VX to see if they can do it with their PNR, but I can't login to their site and book it either. (Also VA Plat)

I'd be interested to see if you get Main Cabin Select or just Main Cabin off an international W booking...

When I spoke to VA they said they were unable to provide seating for codeshare flights. Curious to know what seating a PE ticket gets you on VX and if you can request a seat by contacting VX direct.

FOr my return flight which involves a codeshare flight operated by DL, I can call up DL and get an extra comfort seat for a discounted price being Platinum.

Last time I flew PE on VX, I couldn't select seats online, but I ended up with the hump exit row seat between two bigger guys. My traveling companion had the other middle seat exit row between two others.

We did get all you can eat free snacks/beverages and even mid tier booze from the online ordering system tho.

Free IFE too I think

You should definitely try contacting VX to request a seat, but I don't rate your chances :(

Maybe you can do it t-48 or t-24 etc. you know, when your in the air :(

I rang VX yesterday and for the benefit of others a PE ticket gets you seated in Main Cabin Select and yes you can get advanced seat assignment.

Confirm this is what needs to be done. But just get your VX booking ref from VA then call VX for seat assignment. Did this in 2012 with no hitches either. You would have automatically been seated in MCS. you can also call for the upgrade at t-x hours as well.

+1 to calling the VX service desk and having a seat assigned.

One of the best call center experiences I've ever had, was done in about 40 seconds with no issues in understanding what I was after and a very, very friendly and perky operator. (After getting through their pretty bad IVR).

Odd that the sync between VA and VX is one way only (but it's instant) - the allocations I requested were assigned and then straight away registered in my seat selection status in my VA booking.

I too have a couple of VA booked VX flights that I couldn't select seats for. I took the above advice, however when I explained why I needed the VX PNR I was pleasantly surprised that the response was that the agent (at VA) could select the seats for me!
I have PE booking outbound, and the phone agent confirmed that rows 3 and 10 (main cabin select) on VX were correctly all she had available.
the agent also gave me the PNRs in case I needed them so I used them on the VX site and confirmed the seats she selected for me had stuck. Very happy.
