Losing Gold status mid trip

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of losing your status whilst away on a trip ?

I'm travelling to the US next month (August), returning September 11. My Gold status ends August 31 & I will not be earning the 410 status credits required to maintain gold before that date.

Wondering if there is any chance that increased luggage allowance & lounge access would apply to the trip home from LAX. I'm guessing the answer is no - but would love it to be yes!

I have been Gold since 2007 & have accumnulated enough staus credit to be lifetime silver.

Thanks for the replies - baggage allowance remains the same.

I've called Qantas - It turns out I have a couple of months remaining of Club membership that will "re-activate" once Gold is lost. They've told me I can get a temporary card for this next time I'm at the airport that will allow me access to the lounge at LAX.

So a good result.

It would be interesting to see what is printed on your boarding pass for the return flight.

There is sufficient evidence to suggest a new higher status is not always reflected on boarding pass unless the QFF number is removed and added back again to booking.

I've called Qantas - It turns out I have a couple of months remaining of Club membership that will "re-activate" once Gold is lost. They've told me I can get a temporary card for this next time I'm at the airport that will allow me access to the lounge at LAX.

I didn't think QP members have access to the LAX lounge as its not a Qantas lounge?

what flight are you on back to Oz? I'm on JFK-LAX-SYD on Sept 10, though it sounds like that is one day too early for you.

I didn't think QP members have access to the LAX lounge as its not a Qantas lounge?

They do according to the Qantas site: Lounge Locations | North America | Los Angeles International Airport Tom Bradley Terminal | International Business

Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas, or Jetstar Airlines+ flight number.
One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight.

Of course, there has been a recent report of the newly reopened TBIT lounge being closed to QP members, even travelling on QF - possibly due to overcrowding.
