With the upgraded platinum privileges from Oct'13, one of the perks is access to an executive lounge if available. The 'if available' bit seems to be the biggest obstacle if other member reports are anything to go by.

Is there a full list of properties with eligible exec club's that platinum members can access?

Have you had any experiences in accessing lounges through status - positive or negative?

They are listed on the Accor website in the property profile. I usually select the properties I'm interested in and hit the compare selected hotels button. Alternately go directly to the hotel website and click on the hotel services button (or similar).

All positive experiences for my partner and I during our 3 weeks in Vietnam last year. The following had exec lounges: Novotel Danang, Sofitel Ha Noi, Pullman Ha Noi, Sofitel Siagon plaza. Aside from the occasionally standoffish staff at Novotel Danang, we always found the staff to be excellent and very attentive. The food service, top notch. I won't forget the concierge leaving a full bottle of amragnac on our table of 4. Yes we finished it (attached). She brought another to our table the next evening too, we only sampled that one.ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1402837250.881662.jpg
As they didn't have a room for our second night, staff at the Sofitel Ha Noi managed to get us into a premier suite over at the Pullman, for the standard rate. It was HUGE! 2 bathrooms.

I'll create a Flickr account one day and link my hotel/holiday pics.

Pullman Cairns International (Sebel) does not have a Lounge - yet. It's under construction at present.
Pullman Brisbane has a lounge on the ground floor - it's not too bad.
Pullman Hyde Park, Sydney has a lounge with nice views.
Pullman Albert Park, Melbourne, has a fantastic lounge.

All the lounges above, especially Albert Park, have good facilities although Hyde Park does not have a 'meeting room' inside the lounge.

Albert Park lounge was closed on the 9th this month (it was a public holiday). Generally, excepting maintenance, if there are guests booked in with Lounge access status, then the lounge is supposed to be open. Actually, on one other occasion (there was only my wife and I in attendance) they didn't have hot breakfast @ Albert Park - so we were given the menu from downstairs and ordered whatever we wanted (complementary).

Thanks for the reviews guys - especially the armagnac photos puppysparks! :)

I tried the compare tip you suggested but the list of services that get compared dont list exec lounges. Where do you look to find that?

On a side note, checked into the Brisbane Sofitel tonight & welcomed me as a platinum but said they didn't participate in the program, but would honour the room upgrade but not the lounge access. However they said they will be particiapting from 1 July so stays after this date will have lounge access.

Hopefully this mean those current Oz sofitels that are exceptions will convey the full benefits like the rest of the Accor group.

Great idea!
I also had a fantastic stay as an Accor plat. in Danang Grand Mercure last year, suite room, private car transport & exceptional service all round.
Will try to post some pics.

Happen to be booked Brisbane Sofitel July 15. That was good timing. I was expecting nothing!

You are absolutely correct. I was certain that info was listed previously, otherwise I wouldn't have booked those properties. Aside from contacting the property directly, the remaining option is to enter a dummy booking, then look for a room that has club/exec level access for confirmation. Once confirmed book the room of your choice. A tad drawn out and backward. WP is well worth it in SE Asia. Complimentary breakfast in the exec or main lounge, free top shelf alcoholic beverages, coughtails, canapes and chocolates backed up with impeccable service. I was hoping to experience the same at the new Sofitel in SIN later this year. Unfortunately I only made gold this year so unless I'm given a freebie the best of it has passed. .

A question for platinums at Pullman hotels. If there is no lounge to access due to there being no lounge. Do hotels provide an alternative breakfast benefit as other hotel chains do.

No - when I stayed at Pullman Cairns International recently I had to pay for breakfast ($31 from memory). However this was discounted due to the 'Advantage Plus' portion of my Plat card...the two of us ate for the price of one....dining as a single give 25% disc.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Sadly the Pullman Albert Park is closed all week this week - it simply appears to be a cost saving issue!

Was going to use the meeting room inside the lounge tomorrow but will need to find an alternative.

they told me the other week to call up before coming but I said I want to know when booking what is happening. Seems totally random on when it's open

I'm contemplating using the notes section when making a reservation that the reservation is only valid provided that the lounge is open and a full refund will apply otherwise. (I tend to mostly book in advance using the cheaper rooms.) BTW, happen to be on the 8th floor this week....the one that was masked off earlier for a while. Was told the A/C's had been replaced and they still have the plastic film over the wall control....otherwise I can't see anything different over the 9th floor.
