Hi All...
While I admire the intent, the new lounge is a bit of a fail!
I visited the new HKG lounge on Monday evening.... It was SMASHED... literally overflowing with people... not a spare seat to be had... all the QF flights were getting ready to depart to AUS so that explains it... Why people feel compelled to put thier bags on spare seats really annoys me and quite frankly is just inconsiderate! I know it happens everywhere but I felt it was more pronounced on my visit...
The food was... meh... and was being absolutely pillaged by people, the staff could not keep up replenishing. Cook to order?
The Phantom Dim Sum trolley was... well... phantom... Not that I believe that the contents would have been edible....
The much heralded Char Sui was hanging behind the bar counter looking like dried out boot leather... eugh!
So I skipped out to The Bridge (my CX flight was relocated to Gate 67) where it was very peaceful, lots of seating options and the food was plentiful as were the G & Ts!
Just can't work out why QF creates these good looking lounges at overseas ports where they scale back their air services! Sure they must get some revenue from their alliance partner visitors... but would it be that much?
Meanwhile the flagship Business Lounge at SYD looks tired and worn - although for a while the food was great! Last week the food was an embarrassment for my early morning CX flight to HKG.
BTW - if you like polished concrete floors the new QF lounge will float your boat. The white slimline flat panel sound system speakers are fabulous... anyone know what brand they are? I would love some for my house!
