Advertised online today. Qantas Sydney to Honolulu. Special fares blah blah blah.

Redirected to Qantas website, chucked in the dates, back comes...you guessed it...Jetstar. I loathe Jetstar.

It strikes me that Jetstar is Qantas ONLY when it is convenient for Qantas. There should be a mechanism that allows to search for Qantas flights EXCLUDING Deathstar!!

Rant over

Get it correct before you start spurting cough. Qantas flies from Sydney to Honolulu, not every day though.

Qantas don't fly to HNL daily, so hardly a con job. Are the specials available on the days that QF actually do fly to HNL?

One company when it suit them, two companies when it suits them.
Also QF do have some flights to HNL, so it's not a total lie.

A bit harsh IMHO.

The OP simple states he started on the QF web site which took him to JQ and he has no interest in flying JQ.

Depending on your knowledge base and the spin you put on things this can certainly be interpreted as misleading.

No - I'd take it as the only options available on the dates he wanted was JQ. The OP never mentioned being redirected to the JQ site.

I hardly see it being misleading considering QF do not fly daily to HNL. Simply put I feel the OP is wanting to fly to HNL on a day that QF don't fly there. Hardly a con job to me.

This is what I am trying to get at - I believe this is what the OP is seeing. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1401679405.722605.jpg

If they are flying a day QF don't fly to HNL, this is what they will see (outbound option).

sooooo...it's not harsh to head a topic 'QANTAS CON JOB'... (before researching/getting all the facts)

It's annoying.
I'm trying to get a price for CBR-MEL-NRT-SYD-CBR on QF (JQ MEL-NRT) and neither site will show it.

I still think of the big JQ banner right across a road in BNE that said, "coughet I'll Go".

You are correct. The OP did not mention being redirected to the JQ web* site.

However.

AFF is about sharing ideas and opinions and here we have experienced posters and travellers putting down a new poster who dares to see it a little different. In any case for anyone to say he is spurting cough is inappropriate whether he is a new or old poster.

The OP did state two things.
  1. He looked up Qantas and got JQ information which he finds misleading,
  2. Qantas and Jetstar are one company when it suits them or two companies when it suits them.

Re #1. He isn't the first and certainly won't be the last.
Re #2. That has been stated here many times by many people.

*If you then attempt to book the JQ flight you are redirected to the JQ web site so in effect it is the same thing.

Is it not in fact misleading if an advert under the QF banner carries a fare only available on JQ ?

This was the point I took from the OPs post.

Kinda like a big red and white ad with roos all over it showing $49 SYD-Melbourne fares but when you click through its actually JQ to AVL, close but no cigar.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This was the point I took from the OPs post. What I took was on the day he selected there was no QF flight and JQ was offered. Did the ad say the special was available every day. Did you see the ad. I have not.

And you have seen this where?

QF has many flaws but there is no need to create false ones.

The lack of research on this thread is amusing. The JQ options I can see come out at $150 cheaper than the QF sale options. It simply seems as if the OP wants to fly on a day that QF doesn't fly to HNL.

End of.

Moderate the inappropriate stuff out. I can see one minor part the rest of the thread does not put the OP down.

He only got JQ because QF don't do HNL daily - it's simple isn't it.

Have you tried to do so? I can complete the booking on the QF site. It also comes out cheaper than the advertised QF special...

It if has a QF leg in it the site will not redirect, if its purely JQ it will.
