I'm just about to pass the magical figure of 28,000 status points, all accumulated in 7 years. This is double lifetime gold and I was wondering if Qantas had given thought to either (a) offering a second lifetime gold to a partner or (b) offering lifetime platinum.

As a Platinum One from the beginning of the program I wonder where too next? Also CEO and non-executive director on a three different boards Qantas haven't been knocking down my door to offer me CL membership (Red Roo take note). I am starting to wonder if my loyalty over the last 7 years is actually of value to Qantas.

I also find Emirates wooing me, on the last 5 flights they have upgraded me to First. Is the Emirates tie-up really a good thing for Qantas?

QF stated at the Loyalty lunch a few months ago that LTP was not on the agenda.
Sorry to burst your bubble.

As an aside, it takes more than just flying to be offered CL, QF do not publish the criteria so unfortunately it is a mystery to us all.

If I was flying that much I would probably be accumulating under AA than QF, much better earn and burn rates for your likely travel patterns.

Congratulations on achieving this rare milestone. :)

We absolutely value your ongoing loyalty, and hope that our teams have been able to look after you over the years.

From reports here CL is nothing to do with how much flying you do, but more about how you can influence others. Some CL's fly very little.

As above look as AA. You can get AA miles by flying QF codes on EK metal. Or EK directly

Whilst CL criteria is not officially published, I suspect the criteria has to do with how much you can personally influence QF's bottom line. I suspect that you'd need to have direct control (or extreme influence) over the purse strings of a multimillion dollar travel budget (aka an amount which will start affecting figures on QF's P&L sheets). The amount you personally fly doesn't come into it.

Whilst 28,000 is impressive, apart from the thank you from Red-Roo, there is nothing (officially) higher that LTG.

Generally the saying goes, if you have to ask for CL, you aren't ready for it.

I think you need to let them know that it is you actually controlling the purse strings. That said I suspect you are probably right, with most CL's been given it because QF seeking them out, not the other way around.

Congratulations!

I think you are right about EK wooing the QF elites. Lots of reports on QF members getting upgrades etc and being well looked after. I think if you fly enough to make Platinum with them, why not? Have both QF WP and EK WP. Although I would credit the eligible flights to AA for the better burn rate than EK/QF.

Well done - I am about 500 short of that figure in total but should crack that in the next week.

Now if only they counted the 250+ eligible flights I had between October 1994 and September 1998 (when Tier Credits were introduced) I would have done it much earlier.

May I ask why you are still crediting to QF serfty? To retain/attain WP?

You're aiming for just the 1200 SCs this year, yeah?

And to be clear, is that because of the 'simpler and fairer' system QF introduced?
Actually no - with the +++ continually increasing it's going to soon cost 1¢ per point to actually redeem them on anything I consider worthwhile.
