Re: Not lot of time to use QP int lounge at Syd, if connecting flight is from Aust do

Thanks. I have ~3 hours transit in HKG. I will try to find something suitable to eat and drink.

the last time I did that connection QF wasn't able to issue the RJ boarding pass in Australia, so I had to wait at the transit desks (by immigration) for them to open three hours before.

I think at the time (I can't remember if we were on summer time or something) it was a 4 hour scheduled transit, then we arrived a bit early... so there was about an hour and a bit of sitting and waiting. Security won't let you through without a BP.

Maybe (hoepfully) that has changed by now and you can get a BP in OZ.

I arrive at 5:45pm and depart ~9:15pm. I should be OK. May also be able to use check-in online and print boarding pass?

I couldn't OLCI last year (about 12 months ago). might have changed since.

Noted, Medhead, too old a dog I am, (me lad)... sorry, should have seen it was an award, and should know, no miles accrual on seats obtained by using points, ahhh...
Umm, argh, well, umm, as an award, bugga, maybe direct BNE to SYD to BKK, would be better.

Not all OLCI self-printed boarding passes are accepted at transfer security (QF being a prime example) so you might have to go to the transfer desk in any case.

Why would that be?

Any way it should not be an issue getting a BP at a transfer desk.

Don't know - they have a laminated 'naughty or nice' list which they check twice and QF BPs don't cut it.
Some of the transfer desks are unattended until a few hours before departure, but QFs is open all day AFAIK.

Re: Not lot of time to use QP int lounge at Syd, if connecting flight is from Aust do

there's no problems getting BPs at transfer desks, it's just the times they are open. QF only ever used to be staffed three hours before departure, so unless it is new at HKG, if you didn't have a BP and had a transit of more than about 5 hours it was almost worth heading into the city check-in at Kowloon to get one.

I guess it must have changed. I was last there in March, around 2.00p.m. and was told that the desk was open "all day".

That's OK. I am flying RJ to BKK and I believe I will be able to get boarding pass at transfer desk when I arrive in HKG.
