From next year?

Yes, this os more so a JQ question, but thought I would ask here first.

When I used it, there were many pax who were doing the orange D card shuffle.

Must be a demand for it.

I've not been advised of any changes. As you've suggested, this may be a question for Jetstar.

However I'll pass on your comments to our scheduling team as reference.

they probably just havent published their schedules, they usually do it at the last minute...

they are essentially re-positioning flights with revenue passengers. The majority of pax on these flights seem to have D passes

I wonder if it's cheaper to reposition without pax though, as surely there must be a different cost to not have a full plane, wouldn't even need to be at the terminal for instance, etc...

I dont know but it appears that JQ think it isn't.... plus it also gives a few more options for those who are actually taking the flight from or to the international destination.

While it does do that (second point), that seems to be a side effect more than a convenience as Jetstar don't seem to mind inconveniencing passengers and making them collect and re-check bags ;)

JQ simply don't publish these tags much in advance these days - it's been that way for perhaps 18 months ...

good observation, no wonder I never have any problem finding them, I don't book more than a month or 2 in advance

If you wete flying CNS/SYD JQ dom then on JQ3 SYD/HNL you would have to collect your bags at SYD T2 then take the train around to SYD T1 & check in ftom scratch.

If you were on an intl flight (eg ex Japan) say JQ18 connecting to JQ3 your bags would be through checked CNS to HNL, you'd get both boarding passes & clear customs in CNS so just transit airside in SYD T1.

If you had a QF dom flight CNS/SYD then JQ3 to HNL your bags would be through checked if they are in the same pnr. You may or may not get your JQ3 boarding pass as it's a bit hit 'n' miss.

I did JQ29 yesterday with about 100-200 domestic passengers SYD-MEL with only a few (30+) continuing on to BKK. Orange stickers everywhere.

I must try the Dreamliner J class at least once.
But will keep an eye out for the other Dreamliners that might be doing the MEL to SYD routings.
I did hear some people complaining that they were not going to do the JQ35 again, because of the immi lines, you know, the pains of having to personally show up at check in row J at SYD airport, collect boarding pass, go through immi, customs & int security, and then do the same on arrival into MEL.
For me personally, its the kick of doing a "quasi/pseudo int flight".
Not sure what people expected, some of these D stickered pax, I knew what to expect, but didn't these other people who complained, while in the snaking line???
OK, thats it from me on this thread/topic, unless any new "ideas" pop up.

Samh004, maybe, indeed it would be cheaper/cost effective, or even minimal cost, for JQ to move planes esp Dreamliner or the 330 around without pax, ie, no cleaning, no maintenance, no kids playing around on the flight, no D stickered pax, but I don't which one is more advantageous to JQ, having pax with the $$$ coming in, or flying an empty plane from SYD to MEL, to start a flight from MEL onwards to an int destination.

Don't forget the F lounge if WP :)

Can be a pain if they cancel the flight though, which happens quite regularly
