Part of me wants BNE-LAX so that we see QF's flagship bird using BNE instead of/as well as EK's. Another part wants PER-DXB so that QF can show WA they haven't completely given up on them. I've always wondered why they don't sell F to Japan as I would have thought there was a market for that, so SYD-NRT is also an option.

Somehow, I reckon they'll just let it sit on the ground though... sigh!

I'd actually like to see some TT services in there... I don't like the fact that QF only operates TT's with 737's, and as such would chose EK / LA or even NZ over QF.

You had me worried for a moment when you mentioned TT as my immediate thought was you were talking about Tiger.

I think it will probably be put on SYD-DFW or BNE-LAX.

But I would love to see it operate to BER, FRA or CDG!

I would like to see a MEL-HKG, as at the moment I always go via SYD to get the A380. If I am in a hurry I get CX from MEL as their A330's are at least good, and have PE!
Also another A380 into HKG would go nicely with some CX codeshares...

If there were to be a A380 MEL-HKG I am sure it would be a winner, MEL-HKG tends to be quite full despite the old equipment.

+1. MEL-HKG should be good!

Qantas wont have any spare A380s, if you consider that just with C checks which are required every around two years, with a fleet of 12 and a months duration, they lose every second year in availability. Now factor in the fleet approaching the 6 year mark, which requires a longer intermediate layover and/or D check looking at corrosion etc, that takes 6-8 weeks or around two years to do the fleet. In the meantime you still need to accommodate A checks every 750 hours as well which dont take anywhere near as long but still mean the aircraft cannot be flying.

Qantas will be doing well to have a service recovery body like they do now for unexpected maintenance, the ageing fleet means less time in the air regardless.

Maybe they'd like to buy 8 more and do SYD-DFW, MEL-HKG and BNE-LAX.

Oh, wait.....

There isn't enough booze in the world which would make me want to fly TT TT...

I'd love to see Qantas run F to Japan; I was really surprised a few weeks ago when I was looking to see that they don't.

Other than establishing a better European hub (though you'd want the lounge to already have started construction), perhaps they should be looking to China, cementing their codeshare/partnership.

Any reason why a route that flies through HKG and onwards to Shanghai or Beijing wouldn't be workable?

I believe there is also a scheduling issue, i.e. the aircraft couldn't do SYD/MEL-HKG-PEK-HKG-SYD/MEL in one day.
The current SYD-HKG A380 has 9.5 hours out, 2.8 hours in HKG and 9.2 hours back for around 21 hours away from base. A tag to anywhere useful isn't going to be worth it.

Is Sydney to Hong Kong now A380 every day.

I had joked in another place, just give it to Emirates, but someone suggested paint it orange.

Is the retimed MEL-LHR flight going to stay that way for the future.

They could perhaps do something similar to what Air NZ currently do with their 777s, i.e. arrive in the morning from North America/Asia, then do a day return to Australia before leaving again for North America/Asia that evening.
