US Dividend Miles - Oneworld Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

From Flyertalk - hopefully this fixes the CX problem!!:

I was running into the same issues as everyone else all day yesterday, agents were unable to see any MH or JL flights at all in the system. Then last night I finally reached a more capable agent who, after about 45 minutes of going back and forth with the help desk, figured out how to find all oneworld partner flights in the system. I didnt end up booking the ticket with that agent because she quoted me a higher mileage amount. She did tell me what I should tell other agents if I called again and they could not find the oneworld flights in the system. Agents need to search for the flights in the "regular availability system", NOT the "dividend miles availability system" and that they must search for each segment individually, including all connections. Today when I called back, once again agents initially were not able to find any oneworld partner flights in the system, but after I told them how to search as per the other agent's instructions they were able to find them.

Yes, though we are separately told that US agents dont like smart cough customers who tell them how to use their system! Hopefully US will eventually train their staff to overcome this issue.

I'm seeing 2x seats in J on the 6th on January LHR-HKG CX252

then on the 7th you will have to go HKG-KUL CX791 followed by KUL-PER MH125

all flights have 2 seats in J

Bazinga.... Called again today using this info and I now have these flights on hold. Thanks for all the help AFF, once again team AFF to the rescue....

$508 USD Taxes Per Passenger though, that seems very steep?

The latest successful bookings has got me excited .... so basically, similar to the previous USDM bookings, find the award seats sector by sector, ring up USDM and tell them the flights and bingo?! And if an agent gets stuck, you kindly ask them to check the regular inventory :)

Bugger.

On the plus side, she quoted me 60,000 USDM Per Pax return!!!!
The taxes figure isn't high enough for fuel surcharges to be involved. Besides...it's a CX/MH booking right? So there shouldn't be any.

She was not able to give me a breakdown of the taxes, she said all it showed her was a total figure, no breakdown.

Morning,

My friend who's honeymoon flights were changed so that her husband to be is now sitting in economy is still struggling to find any availability into Europe. She is heading to Venice first but I cannot see any flights in J into Europe - Can anyone see any flights from SYD into anywhere in Europe for the 6th, 7th or 8th of May?

She has put up a case of beer if anyone can help ;)

Thanks guys.

Most of it is the UK APD £188 = A$335. It is calculated as the distance between London & the capital city of the final destination i.e. Canberra.

Tried calling 3 X times tonight to get CX seats....all the agents has told me that there are still issues in loading the CX inventory. and the regular availability is for paid flights and not redemption tickets. I will try again tomorrow....hope I will be lucky tomorrow.

It took me 5 phone called totalling about 4 hours to get the end result I wanted. One word... Persevere

Just called USDM and said 'Im looking for flights between MEL and GUM'. The male agent immediately replied 'oh yes! I spoke to you yesterday!' I replied 'no, it wasn't me - I haven't called for days'. He replied 'oh then it must have been someone else. What an odd coincidence someone else is looking for those exact days!'

Ok, come on... Who was it?!?

I really wish USDM allows one way award booking now that they have joined Oneworld..

Well they could, and then we'd probably have all of AA's other convoluted and restrictive routing rules as well!
