Qantas, you've broken my heart.

I achieved Platinum with exactly 1,400 SCs.

The next year ~8 weeks before anniversary I was comped although I made 1,200 SCs exactly by anniversary. The next year I was comped again ~8 weeks before anniversary but I made the 1,200 SCs again.

I have made Platinum easily well before my anniversary so have not been comped again. Will I get one if I miss out? Who knows but I will certainly hope I get comped and post about it on AFF.

If the three year earn (2 + current year ??) is equal or > 3,600SC it appears it's a lay down misere. Anything else could possibly be chalked up as good luck :?:

Parallels my experience exactly. After one year as a WP, I was comped for the next 3 years, even though I had exceeded 1200 SC's in each year.

I figure that one year, I am due to be comped when I have zero SC's.:p

That's a bummer. My partner is in the same situation come April and I was hopeful of a comp WP too.

He's been gold for a long time and a mix of WP depending on travel. Was this your first WP?

Yes, first WP

Sorry but in the words of Dave Noble you know what the requirements are...

I agree and I'm not disputing thier decision, just a little disappointed. Maintaining WP was the only thing keeping me on Qantas instead of whoever was cheaper.

It's a useful post just from a data point perspective. I'm going to be well short of WP requal this year. userlame, had you been comped before? Any idea what you're average SCs have been over the past 3 years or so?

Been comped once back when VA was DJ.

Been Gold on Qantas for two years, then WP for one, and now back to Gold.

The funny thing is, most of my status credits in previous years were earned by grinding out 10 SC at a time on low value flights.
Now that I'm in a more senior role in the company, the last years SC were mostly earned flying fully paid for J class.
I was hoping that would count for something. If not, should it?

Don't count on comping. After 9 years and a 3 yr average just exceeding 1200 in last 3 years I was not comped (although I was the year before even though I exceeded sc by end of month). So the best to assume is that the published rules will be followed and anything else is a bonus.

Yes a lot of luck is needed. There do not appear to be any set rules or logic other than achieving the required amount of SCs. Nothing is guaranteed.

It has counted- you got more SCs for each flight, so had to take fewer and pay only once!

I was very grateful when I received a free year. Didn't expect it and would have been happy to drop down the chain. There was no explanation from QF why I got a free pass....you'd think they give you some PR spiel on why you got a gift.

Either way it is still worth an attempt with Qantas to reinstate (especially if some 2014 trips are already booked and in the system)

Nice..... I thought this forum was about helping each other?

Sometimes there is too much of the fluffy stuff. Yes it's a hard luck story but the logic of flying the other guys because you weren't comped has worn thin on me.
