So. I'm back to being SG after a year at WP. I was 150 status credits short for renewal, and didn't want to ASA my way through because I was saving my points and also unsure of my flying load for the next year.

I'm not complaining so much about the drop, I understand how the system works. I am a little surprised they did it to me given how badly they need loyal customers right now (especially those who fly fully paid business class as often as they can get away with).

I guess I chase status with Virgin again now, especially since Qantas are scaling back their use of widebodies domestically anyway.

<end of whinge>

That's a bummer. My partner is in the same situation come April and I was hopeful of a comp WP too.

He's been gold for a long time and a mix of WP depending on travel. Was this your first WP?

So you fall more than 10% short of the target and want to be comped?

As for the widebodies, I don't think VA offer them over and above what QF do on the triangle, and you still have the same commitment for the widebodies on the transcon routes as it is.

Sorry but in the words of Dave Noble you know what the requirements are...

It didn't read as an expectation, more like a hope. They know the rules.

Given some of the status comps Q have handed to no status OOL people it's hardly an unreasonable hope.

To be honest it came across as I'm not complaining but I actually am.

If it wasn't the case why would they be going after VA status?

Aw, give userlame a break. It was obviously a somewhat light hearted, self described 'whinge'

There's lots of discussion on here of QF comping people status renewal, so I don't think the OP is unreasonable in being slightly disappointed!

It's a useful post just from a data point perspective. I'm going to be well short of WP requal this year. userlame, had you been comped before? Any idea what you're average SCs have been over the past 3 years or so?

The OP knew about the MASA option and choose not to use it, so I find no reason to complain about the loss of status.

Now that I really understand. As I've mentioned to a few people, I find that process much too daunting. It's ridiculous. I've tried twice and hung up feeling like I don't know what I'm talking about.

I am sure you will enjoy the VA widebodies domestically.......

A330's pretty much replace B767's so not much will change with QF. In fact, they will improve with the new business and econony on the A330's starting late this year

I know what you mean. I did my first ever booking this week and it took a while to get it right.
Having said that, if my WP status was hanging in the balance, I would do whatever it takes to get those 150SCs.

Nothing wrong discussing not being comped. A lot of people have been comped with a lot less SCs. In fact some have never held a higher status level and have been gifted that status level.

So at 1,050 SCs I would be hopeful I have a good chance of being comped more so when they are handing comps and double SC offers like the world is about to end.

It is a shame the widebodies are going. I would much rather a 767 than a 737 any day of the week.

Personally I still cannot take Virgin seriously. Just when I think it is time to give them another go they find a way to disappoint.

The 767's are going, replaced by A330's mainly, well except for 2 I think

Agree with your Virgin thoughts, I gave them another try last week with a few flights and they are still laughable!

I would like to keep my foot in both doors, but Virgin really doesn't offer me anything worthwhile, I'll stick with Qantas for 100% of my domestic flights and await further news of their demise in 6 months. However, the domestic product is strong and international should survive with LAX flights, HNL and a few Asian ports for the medium term.

I would be far happier if QF took up the 787-9 options/purchase rights/deferrals/whatevers to start replacing A330's, with the oldest ones being over 10 years old

Some 787-9's to start arriving in 2018/2019 would give me more confidence in QF

Surely if the OP is asking/expecting a comp then we deserve to know their history?

If this was their first year as a WP and they just qualified last year then it is probably reasonable they aren't comped. But if they've been a WP for a few years and qualified well in excess of 1,200 SCs each year then they probably have a valid argument.

These posts make me sick.... Freeloaders! Just earn the SC! It's really not hard...
A 'miss' is a 'miss'.... Sorry buddy but you missed the mark, fell short, wasn't good enough, etc etc etc.

End of whinge...lol
