People behaving badly is not limited to any one nationality or demographic. Given we are the largest and closest western nation to both Bali and coughet, and it is relatively inexpensive to get over there, it is of no surprise that the large majority of people behaving badly will be Aussies...

General lack of manners. Lack of consideration for others around you. It gets worse with alcohol.

They make a fool of themselves everywhere they go and give Australians a bad name. If you think that is OK then by all means stick up for them and call me a snob.

I am quite happy avoiding them. Now if I could only do the same with the rude Russians. The Thais hate the Russians but go and learn Russian as money is more important.

This is something that's not limited to Aussies or Bogans... In fact some of the worst offenders for the above behaviour I have seen have been from what could be called "higher socioeconomic people".

Edit: Also if you want stories about the rich and powerful behaving badly, the Mrs used to work at parli house. She has many a story she could tell you which would make a group of bogans at a thailand club look like they where having high tea...

This thread reminded me of the famous Queensland senator, Mal Colston. Using his govt funded flights he regulary did status runs his best was the status run from BNE to PER and back to get enough ff points for his wifes trip. All for a 5 min meeting in the PER QP. Then he had his driver take him to the airport in BNE. Mal flew to OOL, his driver drove down to meet him and take him to a meeting then drove him back to OOL. Mal flew back to BNE where his driver was waiting to take him home.

Using his govt funded flights he regulary did status runs his best was the status run from BNE to PER and back to get enough ff points for his wifes trip. All for a 5 min meeting in the PER QP. Then he had his driver take him to the airport in BNE. Mal flew to OOL, his driver drove down to meet him and take him to a meeting then drove him back to OOL. Mal flew back to BNE where his driver was waiting to take him home.

An olden day Peter Slipper. These two are more Bogan than any J* passenger you'll come across!

I like to remove Fiji from the Bogan destination list, I been twice and never encountered any bogans , in fact I can not remember too many places except the resort bars where tourist were found in any numbers , all very civilized . Most people that I have met are there to get away from people and relax/ surf/ dive. Great place

I'm very confused by the above post. "labelling people by the way they behave" and "people carrying on like they do in Mount Druitt". What is the inference here - that people in Mount Druitt carry on in a certain way? Why not only label those people in Mount Druitt who behave in a particular way, not all Druittarians. And while you are at it, label those specific people in Mosman, Vaucluse, Parramatta and elsewhere correctly as well?

My work takes me to many places, happily a lot of that in the air. But I also travel extensively in the Sydney Metro. Until six years ago I'd never been to Campbelltown, Liverpool, Blacktown, Penrith or Cabramatta but work has taken me to those places many times. And I catch trains there! In fact when a client calls and asks me to come over to Mona Vale or some other northern beach, I occasionally sigh and think "great, another horrible Sydney commute-by-car stuck in traffic on the Spit Bridge". Oh how much more pleasant it would be to be sitting on the train reading the paper heading out to Cabramatta where I can grab a tasty Bahn Mi for lunch. And as a bonus, in my observation less bogans in Cabra than there are in Mona Vale or for that matter Mosman. Certainly less annoying self-entitled people than those around the Balmoral Slopes, that's for sure (in my observant opinion).

I've been to Mount D as well. It isn't my favourite place no, but I don't run down an entire suburb and it's populace. There are some fine pubs there and no reason to fear a quiet ale from time to time.

Whilst I think JohnK is getting the benefit of a technicality, he did say Mount Druitt Pub. I certainly know of certain pubs which became the local dive bars where it's safe to assume the majority of people in them are not pillars of society. When I was a kid, no self respecting person with teeth would ever think of stepping foot in the local tavern, lest you won't overly attached to all your teeth, and yes it was the majority of patrons who where like that, it wasn't just the one or two who ruined it for the rest of them. It certainly wasn't reflective of our suburb at all.

Some of worst pax on J* are bogans flying with their children. For some reason they believe in letting their children scream and shout freely at any time during the flight. They may call it "free spirit" but I call it lack of education!

You didn't read my post. I said Mt Druitt pub. It could just as easily have been Logan, Caboolture, Ipswich, Campbelltown etc.

By the way I have been to Mt Druitt. Car still needs to be chained to driveway at night? Have been to many pubs/clubs in the area. Is the most common pickup line used by the "ladies" there "Buy me a drink and I am yours for the night."?

Yes not nice to generalise. And I still don't want to visit Fiji, Bali or coughet.

If JohnK wants to call Jetstar passengers bogans then I think (as both a regular JQ AND QF customer, amongst many other airlines I choose to fly) - that we have a right of reply. It then got even more ridiculous when he followed it up with some sort of ridiculous implication that JQ flies to places where Australians behave badly. Yet they fly to Thailand - his preferred holiday destination. It makes no sense whatsoever.

It helps if you just accept that statistics and facts are just lies against personal opinion.

My interpretation of the above quote is that the writer has a generally condescending attitude towards Mt Druitt, I'm not sure I can comment further than that.

I have no particular desire to revisit coughet having been there many times, but I quite like Bali and find it surprisingly bogan-free. Fiji and other developed-resort style places lack interest for me. But should you write-off these places without going there? I'm not sure. After ignoring Bali for many years due to similar preconceptions I found I was in fact completely wrong.

It is through the eyes of someone who visited Mt Druitt quite a lot. That is the impression that was imprinted in me.

I am sorry if that offends you but I am allowed an opinion on something I have experienced that may not necessarily agree with your experience.

By the way there are people who look down on where I live in Sydney. I don't hate them. They are entitled to an opinion.

Flying per-CNS, with the wife, for a "meeting" with the whip coincidentally on the same day your purchase of a house in cairns settled is better.

As someone who grew up in Mt Druitt, and someone who moved out of there as soon as I reached legal age - I'm quite comfortable not associating with the vast majority of people who I encountered while living there.

Actually, I've found another breed. Men aged in their sixties who kind of own the air and think their humour is really hip and everyone needs to hear it. Give me bogans any day. The worst group we found was making our way down through Vietnam. We seemed to find the same group of people at the airports every few days.

Not being from NSW I have no idea where Mt Druitt is, quite frankly it sounds like a wannabe Frankston. However given all its residents appear to be flying Jetstar - maybe it is a good place for the second airport?
