I'm using AI almost exclusively now for travel planning and also planning on the ground while travelling, and I'm curious if others are seeing the same potential. AI has completely transformed how I create travel itineraries. Instead of spending hours researching, I'm now feeding tools like ChatGPT and Claude some basic parameters about my trip duration, interests, and the type of holiday I'm after. The output is incredibly tailored, well-researched itineraries that hit exactly what I'm...
Well after reading so many wonderful trip reports, I am a little hesitant to start my own. But as @VPS said just post lots of photos and make us envious. We were fortunate to get some great mostly business class fares, curtesy of @madrooster . I really appreciate his Assistance and jmput.(these flights were booked late last year and I built my trip around it. My passion is all things travel and I am ardent researcher and reader of travel forums. I am writing this on a plane to Portugal...
Just logged into the Qantas app and had an option to register for a new promo to earn up to 110 Status credits on the ground! Can't find anything about it on the website yet but took a screenshot of the FAQ from the registration page. Seems there are 8 different categories that you can get SC for by earning points in during the promo period.
Qantas Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNC is currently en-route from PER to LAX non-stop! Left around 2am this morning, Perth time, and will arrive in LAX around 4am local time (same day). https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/qf315#3ca55952 I assume it's a charter or positioning flight.
https://www.executivetraveller.com/news/virgin-australia-s-new-cabin-carry-on-baggage-rules So in all honesty, why fly Virgin when perhaps Jetstar would have better offering albeit domestic Business Class? https://www.smh.com.au/traveller/travel-news/nobody-told-me-virgin-australia-is-now-a-budget-airline-20251008-p5n13w.html https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/aviation/virgin-australia-reveals-major-changes-to-carryon-luggage-policy/news-story/14458a75074036f3452a27afa4256a67 The...

Many years ago, I was sitting in a restaurant in Osaka eating some delicious gyoza. I'd got about halfway through my meal when the chef, who spoke no English, came out from the kitchen to my table and was gesturing at my chopsticks. Apparently, I was using them wrong and he couldn't stand watching me do this any longer, so took it upon himself to come out and show me the "correct" way! While slightly embarrassing at the time, I've been using my chopsticks "correctly" ever since! Something...

On a train going out to Western Sydney I am sitting on a seat from hell it is so hard. I thought about my most recent mistake of booking Novotel Brisbane Airport only to find it was not really at the airport and wondered if others have mistakes they would like to share. Fortunately the train is an express ride to my destination!
In the recent What's your golden travel rule? thread, AFF members shared lots of great tips that can make a big difference to your travel. There are lots of other little tips and tricks that definitely won't change your life, but are the kind of thing that make you think "ha, that's useful". Things like, how to raise the armrest on your aisle seat. Or how to soften the frozen butter you get with your Economy Class bread roll...
'The Australian' online has a lengthy report about how on Thursday 28 August 2025, VA50, the 1515 hours DPS-BNE airborne at 1606 hours had one of the three toilers inoperable. Later, the other two also did not work, forcing passengers to use a sink, bottle or 'on top of' whatever was already in a toilet. Apparently all passengers are being given unspecified compensation. The B738 MAX VH-81K remains out of service after arriving BNE at 2330 hours, half an hour late on Thursday night. One...
It's that time of year again when airlines start to offer Early Bird discounts for people wanting to fly to Europe next year. This thread is a place to post and discuss any 2026 Europe Early Bird offers you come across. To start with, Cathay Pacific is running an Early Bird sale until 15 September. Covers travel dates until 30 June 2026: https://flights.cathaypacific.com/en_AU/offers/early-bird-sale.html Malaysia Airlines is running a sale until 9 September for travel until 31 May 2026...
Hi all, My kids have FF point balances a few days away from evaporation - what's the easiest way to add some points? Can I sign them up for their own Woolworths cards and link them to their frequent flyer accounts - is there a minimum Woolworths transaction that triggers a point transfer? Or do a similar thing for petrol purchases? I've had a good look around the forums but much of the advice is years (in some cases many years) old so I'm a little wary of it. I'd be grateful for your...
Or technically Western Sydney International Nancy-Bird Walton Airport. IATA has issued a provisional code of WSI. Previously SWZ had been though of as likely and even appeared on Google maps for a while. Just hope the US baggage handlers don't confuse it for MSY (New Orleans)
Do you have a golden rule that you always apply to your travels? If so, what is it?
As the title says! I’m curious to hear which loyalty program people are considering most worthwhile, and why. I am Accor platinum, Hilton Diamond and haven’t ventured any further than that. I like the lounges at Accor more than the Hilton properties I’ve stayed at, but find other supposed perks very hit and Miss (e.g. welcome amenity). would love to hear pros and cons from others.
I often wonder what is the story behind some people's AFF user names, and was quite enlightened by @somebol's recent explanation in his epic 5 day Award Heist TR. Now, some are pretty obviously versions of people's actual names or initials. But others have a bit more mystery to them. Like mine, maybe. It's Seat zero B BTW, not Seat oh B or seat 08 as some have thought. The back story is this - I used to be in the RAAF and one of my jobs was as an Air Movements Officer. The larger...
ABC reporting that last night's QF2 service diverted to Baku due to a medical emergency. Hundreds stranded in Azerbaijan as Qantas plane makes urgent landing
Inspired by the Top Three Holiday Photos and Best Photographs of Aircraft threads, I thought it would be nice to have a place for AFF members to share their favourite photos they've taken either of a plane, or from an aircraft window. I'll post a few of my favourite snaps below, but I'm sure other AFFers have much better photos! Please feel free to share yours in this thread.
