Usually I don't like to press the call button preferring to go to galley to find FA for my request. Ill press the button if I can't find anyone

I'd like to see an online request system where you can order drinks by selection on the entertainment Screen.

This could be a Qantas feature on their excellent "on Q" system.

It would save the FA having to come to me to find out what I want and then going back to galley. Also keeps the cabin quiet as I don't have to verbalise my request.

They can even leverage the chat/messaging function...

I was thinking:
Screen selection from a set menu. Premium cabins better selection.
Time selection for delivery would be nice - eg in next 10 min, next 30 min, or at a specific time.

And for those WP1 in Y this might be a selling feature on QF long haul - access to J drinks menu from Y seat - just swipe WP1 card to access.

By the turn of the century (after several hundred QF flights) I had re-christened these as the "Ignore" buttons.

I think Air NZ has this feature on its new 777s.
They do, but it annoys the FA's so they try to (unofficially) keep the feature turned off as much as possible.

I never use the call button, much prefer to get up out of my seat and wander down to the galley. Plus its a good chance to have a chat with the FAs, and usually results in me being given a few treats.

I also like to get out of my seat and talk to FAs.
Maybe they can sell J class meals on longer flights (e.g. SYD - PER) as extra revenue.

I don't usually press the call button.
When I flew JAL in Dec I was shooed away from the galley and asked to use the call button. On last months CX flight I was asked in the galley if my call button wasn't working.
Fair to say I have now gotten over my awkwardness  ;)

VX Have this with a credit card swipe for all but those in MCE seats, where the dollar amount is zero. Works a treat too. Touch screen what you want, swipe, and get it in a few minutes.

It all depends on the quality of service. On QF and most Asian carriers it's usually flawless but on other airlines like RJ, my glass of wine remained empty for too long so the call button had to be used...

If the call button on JL is not answered it is an immediate case of "I cannot live with this shame" and, well, you know the rest.

On BA , QF and certain other airlines the button is seen as a nuisance. On other airlines eg CX or JAL it is the correct way to address staff.

I will let you draw your own conclusions, however there is certainly a correlation between lazy staffers and button hating.

I tend to press the call button, and I can only think of a couple of times where it's been ignored. Most of the time the FA's are pretty prompt, and have gotten me my drink of choice pretty quickly from first pressing the button (eg within 5 minutes). This has been in Y / Y+ and J. The experience has been the same.

In some awkward cramped Y seats I've been known to elbow the call button by accident on occassion. Of course that's when the FAs actually do come...

Oh I've done that. Wondered why the FA kept coming to see if I wanted anything
