Please be advised that between 10.30pm Friday 28 June and 10.30am Saturday 29 June 2013 we will be undertaking scheduled system maintenance.

Here we go again. I guess we'll just wait and see what it is this time... Probably nothing.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I guess it means that online seat selection and manage my booking for my flights on Saturday will not work.... so nothing new.

If any other company said that people would be abuzz speculating about new functionality and features... Last time the new features were all bug-fix requests and this time I'm guessing the collective reaction is little more than "Oh great, it's going to be broken for everybody". Way to lower expectations.

Yeah, like my friend who got his car converted from petrol to LPG - mechanic kept the car for a few days, charged him a pretty penny for his troubles and after he got it back all it does is drive along the roads pretty much the way it used to!

I understand it is just the Velocity site that has the outage . The airline site is seperate

Ah I stand corrected - just the Velocity web site as you say. Will be interesting to see if any improvements are noticeable when people get back onto Velocity - maybe in bookings or redemptions? Or maybe fixing family pooling?

Not entirely. There are functions on the VA website that depend on Velocity SSO. "Manage my bookings" is probably the best example. I don't know about you, but I don't really find the reservation numbers particularly memorable. :)

This is, of course, the same as last time and they have clearly highlighted the functions that will be unavailable. I'm just hoping that I'm still able to login and still able to change family pooling after this update.

I suspect it would take a long time to fix existing bugs.

The website has been overrun with bugs.

Can't see too many changes - but they have added 'opt-in' for the 'Membership card with Global Wallet™ functionality' as one of the requests under 'My benefits'.

Shop and Earn is still down after the maintenance period.

Is the international long haul upgrade a new feature? I can't recall seeing it before:

International Long Haul Upgrades

Platinum and Gold members who are booked in an eligible fare class can also use their Points to request an upgrade on their international long haul flights to Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi that are marketed and operated by Virgin Australia.
Requests for an upgrade can be made up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure by calling the Membership Contact Centre. All upgrades are subject to Business Class or Premium Economy Reward Seat availability.
Refer to the table below for the number of Points required to upgrade your international long haul flight. The amount of Points required for a flight upgrade will be confirmed at time of request.
Flight upgrade Points pricing is based on each individual sector shown on an itinerary. If a flight upgrade is requested on two or more individual sectors shown on an itinerary, the Points required will be calculated and quoted separately for each flight sector. If your itinerary contains domestic or international short haul flight sectors, please review the table above to find out the number of additional Points required to Upgrade.

Definitely not new - flew on one of these upgrades last Nov I think (and I think had been around a while before that).
