Well - my well-planned post-Vegas trip to warmer climes has turned interesting.

Went to check in at LAS:

AAgent: "Where are you off to Sir?"

Me: "LA and on to SJU".

AAgent: "Hmmm, were you connecting through NY?"

Me: "Yep"

AAgent: "Not anymore you're not. Looks like you're now going direct from here to MIA and SJU".

Me: "Huh? Not from LA?"

AAgent: "No Sir - big blizzard in NY - everything is shutdown. Looks like you were trying to do a mileage challenge - sorry bout that".

Didn't want to wait at LAS for 5 hours with no lounge so jumped on the wifi, found 1 remaining seat on EF, and got the gate agent to get me back on my LAX flight. Once in LA, a quick check on EF revealed a seat left on the MIA-SJU leg so I'm all good. Have to chase ORC for the missing two segments though.

ya gotta love this place. The dedication to the cause :)

I hope it all works out in the end.

Aat least the Aagent knew what was going on

This is another reason why it's not a good idea to plan these runs during the .us winter!

In saying that, you should be fine with the ORC.

So did you keep the same class of seat on your revised itinerary?

Yes - all my new flights were showing F1 Y0 across the board. At first look most were actually all 0. But obviously a lot of simultaneous changes system wide so by the time I landed in LAX I was able to improve my connection.

I wasn't offered (nor did I suggest) and of the F0 Y1 options ;)

Whilst the LAS check in AAgent was clued in - the lack of an AC (and therefore AAngels Airside) did mean changes at the gate were a bit more "trying", but having EF open on the iPhone and physically showing the AAgent the flights I wanted helped.

UPDATE -

MIA was all fogged in so had to hold on approach for around 80 minutes, 3rd attempt to land was a win, but we'll see what the flow on is........

Enjoy... yep winter does have issues at times. Then again the us tornado season also causes hassle etc.

But generally winter is bad.

So did the late arrival in MIA change your MIS/SJU sector ?

Actually I ended up in MIA earlier as on the redeye from LAX (they wanted to send me straight from LAS), so actually got to SJU earlier than planned. Just finished my nana nap ;)

So if ORC comes through then actually things worked out real well!

Right so a couple of minor delays out of SJU and MIA this morning (including being called back to the gate because they forgot to hand the Capt. some extra paperwork for some cargo..??..??).

Anyway - brisk walk from D48 to D2 at MIA got the cardio good for the day. (MIA was the tightest connection anyway)

Now sitting in ORD on a 2 hour (thus far) delay to LAX. Had a good buffer here and also 3 hours built into LAX as well - so as long as we go in the next 30 mins I should still make it to LAS tonight.....

Thought about it - but wasn't sure if I'd be quicker ;).

(I've always walked in the past and knew I probably had enough time )

In LAX with 30 mins to spare before boarding final leg :)

Taxi, checkin, shower - should be at the card table with a Mojito by 11pm ;)

Ahhh - my head hurts........

The flights were all good in the end (except my UA flight to SFO this morning wasn't much fun hungover)!

Mojito was successfully in hand by 11 pm - but kept refilling itself until about 6 am ;)
