I've often thought about that. Given the more common likely scenario of very little income being generated by the vids, is it possible to offset the expenses against other income?
Yup. It's why negative gearing of houses is so popular; this is basically negative gearing of travel. Mind you, you do need to earn (or genuinely attempt to earn) some income from it.

Yes, but negative gearing only works when you’ve got positive income to offset it against. Otherwise, if he’s a company he’ll just carry losses forward but it’s still big cash out the door.

I don’t know maybe if he’s got some sort of travel business under the same umbrella he could offset it that way
