Btw, I thought the leg room in both E190 and B737 seems better than QF.

Melbourne airport, Saturday morning. I knew from driving to the very last bus-stop of the long-term carpark without seeing a single empty car space that the airport would be busy but it was an absolute zoo inside. I haven't seen it that busy since Christmas Eve. People standing around everywhere because there weren't enough seats.

I escaped into the Lounge and it was like stepping into another world. When I commented on how crazy it was in the terminal the friendly Lounge angel advised that it was because of delays in Sydney the previous day but my ADL flight was fine. The Lounge was peaceful, organised and relaxing. Barely 1/3rd full. Plenty of healthy breakfast options (I would much rather have fruit salad and yoghurt than bacon and eggs), the barista was friendly and efficient and I felt very relaxed and calm to then go back into the jungle and on to my flight.

I'm looking forward to SYD - CNS Tuesday on E190. The smaller aircraft seems more intimate and relaxing. The evening departure time and having meal in lounge prior to flight, big plusses. Row 3 seating an extra bonus.

besides having the same FA on my regular flight for a month straight early last year, my best experience to date hasn't even been in the airport or on a plane.

I was invited to an event at the QLD Art Gallery a few months back for what I can only guess was a "hey, you haven't flown with us recently, so please come along and speak to our sales reps" event. That aside, I met the CEO of Velocity Rewards and had a good night. He was very approachable and we had a good chat :) Definitely one of my most memorable Virgin Australia experiences!

Although just at the moment I can (and do) complain lots about VA I feel it's time to complement.

No one can say the VA Sabre transitions have been easy and VA IT and management probably need a swift kick in the ring-gear, but for my four sectors since migration, I can say the lounge angels I have interacted with have acted with the same friendly, efficient, warm and welcoming nature that has stood VA apart. Bronwyn in MKY was just superb the other day with helping me out as much as she could, to offering some great conversation on art exhibitions we had both attended (plus a few she had and I hadn't ;)) and giving me some mags about Asia travel for my wife to read. Unreal.

Although not just the lounge angels, the check-in staff have been great for me and even the phone staff (NOT the phone system), with even a gentleman in KL being equally as helpful as the BNE staff. Of course the phone helpdesk praise is not across the board because the newbies have been dragged in to help, but all things considered, all of us would be a lot more annoyed if not for the efforts of many VA staff.

Congratulations to the VA staff. (VA management and IT, take some lessons).
