Your Dream Destinations?

Nowhere really. As long as I get to shop in LA every now and again I can die a happy man.

Have always wanted to get pissed in South America also, but wouldn't really consider it a "dream" destination, which to me implies somewhere exceptional (eg Louis Vuitton on Champs Elysees).

my must-do sometime in the next few years is to sea-kayak around the rock islands of palau - it looks so beautiful.

-not too hard to get to via guam, there was talk of a direct brisbane - palua service on a start up airline pacific flier- it seems to have folded though.

There are a few houses on the point at the bottom of King St. Charleston S.C. that would suit me just fine. That and a few more days in HKG wouldn't go amiss.

Last Saturday I flew into Melaleuca, Tas. (near Barhurst Harbour and in the Southwest National Park). I consider this a goal kicked as it was somewhere that I had wanted to see for quite some time.

In reference to an earlier post – the A319 belongs to Skytraders and operates as many as 3 flight a week to Wilkes, McMurdo or Casey on behalf of the Aus Gov but also for the Italians, NZ and USA. It is configured all business class (circa 36 seats) and from the photos look like LH seats. If you ever fly into HBA you will see it sitting on the far side of the DJ parking slot. It is fully ETOPS180 and has special fuel tanks in the hold so that it can fly all the way to Antartica, hold for a hour or so and return to HBA if it cannot land. A pretty special piece of kit.

After it departs from the ice runway - seriously - they need to scrape the rubber of the strip so that it doesn't absorb to much heat and melt pot holes!

As this is AFF I don't believe that it is linked to an FF program at the moment.

In South America they have some sort of leaves that the locals chew. I don't know what they are but they sure made the hike up to Machu Picchu a looooooooooooot easier!

The Skytraders website has a lot of info on their equipment, including how they can reconfigure the plane to suit all sorts.

That explains the sudden change in our high-altitude tolerance, then. And why, at the time, I felt I could have single-handedly brokered world-peace if I just had the chance to address the General Assembly of the UN for 30 minutes... Nah, not really, but it did increase my exercise tolerance.

...(eg Louis Vuitton on Champs Elysees).

mrs ejb considers LV stores a destination in themselves.

On a trip to QLD a few years ago she took great pleasure in shopping at both the Bris and GC stores.

Travel can be cheaper than a LV addiction.

We have 3 stores in Melbourne now with the crown one expanding. ;)

Louis Vuitton (and Prada and Cartier and couture Versace and and and...) is the main reason to travel! Or in fact the only reason. Not particularly interestd in looking at any culture, other than observing how the lovely Parisians do patent leather or getting down and dirty with the mad party Spaniards and the like, or trying to decipher a strange new language.

I've no interest in shopping, only a passing interest in culture but a huge interest in idyllic tropical island paradises (or whatever the plural of paradise is!)

I've been lucky enough to already have been to a few in the Carribean and the Maldives, I think the Seychelles, Bora Bora, Madagascar and Tahiti are all on the bucket list for me.

If your grandparents weren't born into those houses, you'd have difficulty fitting in with the neighbours, SOBs all.

But yes, I know what you mean. Charleston is a delightful destination. Bit humid in the summer, but what a place for a languid lifestyle. Folly Beach for the hot months, I guess.

Hong Kong. The airport itself is a destination, so long as you have Wing access. But the city-state is a buzzing joy. Shopping and eating and riding around on the cheap transport. The Star ferries are a must. I spent four days there in 2008 and enjoyed every minute. And countless transits through HKG. One of the great regrets of my life is that I discovered travel after the old airport ceased operation.

Maldives has been on my list ever since they opened a W Hotel there. Koh Samui or Seminyak are also next, depending on whether the Bali one opens in time - I'd prefer Seminyak as it's a lot more happening with some fab clubs and it's also somewhere familiar with heaps of coughtail bars run by expat Aussies, and Maldives and Koh Samui seem pretty dead. Those who have me on facebook will know of my 'visit every W before I turn 30 project' ;) but with the brand expanding so much it seems much harder now. :(
