Hi there all, some of you may have seen this photo in a thread many months ago:

My youngest daughter has her doll decked out in some custom PJ's we made from legit QF stuff. We live in Colombia and it had been two years since the kids had been back to the homeland. They are both Qantas fanatics (doesn't hurt we get to go in J sometimes) and so they had been waiting for months for that magic moment when we change to a Qantas 747 in Santiago for the big flight across. That is their first taste of Australia and Australians on a home trip, and they LOVE it!

Anyway, last week we duly boarded QF28, SCL-SYD, in style in J, upper deck, for that long-awaited home visit.

We had not sat for three seconds when the flight attendant (will call her FA1 for anonymity) spied Rebecca (the doll). FA1 was awestruck. Within seconds Rebecca was whisked away for a visit to the coughpit. She was later returned with Captain's cap on, which she kept for the remainder of the flight.

The flight was, as usual for us, amazing. We really love the staff QF has on that southern route - every single time they have been great with our kids. We stepped off that flight in Sydney feeling great, with the start of our home trip made perfect. FA1 even took some photos for my daughter of Rebecca in the coughpit :)

Thank you FA1! Thank you Qantas! :)

trips to the flight deck are rare in my experience, well doe QF

GPH, just to be clear - it was Rebecca the doll who got into the coughpit - which was enough for my daughters - they were thrilled with that - they understand these things :)

BTW, small but nice detail:

I have to work so left family in Australia - I only had a few days there. So on my return yesterday I selected seat 5B - wanted to try that single seat on the 747, even though usually I like upper deck.

Just before takeoff FA1 appeared at my side and said G'day!! She had remembered that I had to leave family in Aust and was returning soon, so she checked the pax list and saw I was on another flight with her.

Qantas have some amazing staff!

Not quite the same returning home with other airlines.

Good to be back on a QF aircraft ex-BKK the other day.

Juddles you've now created a monster as Rebecca will now expect to travel in nothing less than J in the future.

If you don't comply with her request you need to watch the movie Bride of Chuckie.

Be very scared.

Brilliant stuff, juddles!

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but now I'm going to say something about how brilliant you are.

Peeps, I'm visiting Colombia in September on this year's DONE5. I've already had PM contact with juddles getting some info and ideas and he's been great in providing that.

But here's the kicker.

I was trying to book some supplementary flights on a small regional airline from Medellin (where juddles lives) to the coffee region but when I got to the payment section, it would not accept foreign CCs. Email to juddles and the immediate reaction is: "No worries; we have arrangements with that airline - just give me the flights you want and I'll have our admin person book them."

Done and dusted within about 24h (and it was over last weekend) - and juddles doesn't know me from a bar of soap! Thanks, mate!

The power of AFF! :D:D

Mmm, warms the heart strings.
When the they are good, they are great, when they "fail", ahem, sad face.
I know the feeling Juddles, when I first got from PS to SG, on that first flight, I dont know one QF FA from another, they of course would recognise me, congrats on making SG or Gold, she said...!!!
Maybe there is somewhere on the flight manifest that that is made clear, I dont know.
Got an op up from Y to J that Dec flight MEL - ADL.
Since then, I have always got an empty seat in Y next to me.
Ok, will keep quiet now.

Oh Parker.......

(I have the record - a 7 inch mini LP)

Dare I admit.. it's on my ipod?

total aside.. the new series of Thunderbirds (animated) isn't a patch on the original but Lady Penalope (voiced by, I believe, Rosamund Pike) is styled as a sort of Paris Hilton clone, complete with irritating yappy dog.

The original voice actor for Parker though is STILL there. Show worth watching for that alone.

Anyway love the story and care of the QF crew to the OP (specially on the return ex-au flight) and to your daughter and Rebecca. That's really sweet. I am sure it brightened their day(night) - including the tech crew - just that little bit more with something a bit different and unique. very sweet.

Well done QF.

I reckon QF should "borrow" Rebecca again, but this time send her all over (well we don't want your daughter to miss her too much!) and make a cute little story of her travels. Heck, pop her in an A330 Business Suite to SIN, A380 to LHR and even a DH8 to ROK :D.

Thanks for sharing, juddles, it's brought a smile to my dial on a Frenetic Friday!!

Has feedback been provided to QF on FA1 via the Customer Feedback option? ... would be great to have their positive customer service recognized.

BD

I heard him being interviewed on the radio recently, not only did he voice Parker but also most of Parker's .... ahem .... more colourful associates. What a ground-breaking show Thunderbirds was, not least the decision to shoot in colour.

Safety Rebecca Style.

You know that would be hilarious and would be a bit different - pose her putting seat belt on, with the lifejacket.... maybe make it even more "Supermarionation" like with super obvious strings, but the voice of Miranda Otto or something.

"so simple even a dolly can be safety aware"

Juddles' contract management lawyers are talking with QF's... The sticking point is Juddles' daughter's attachment to Rebecca ;):).

Meanwhile, the QF PJ Procurement Group (aka QFPJPG) have placed a rush order of size xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_XXS J PJs plus one pair of F PJs in that size to allow for the fact that Rebecca is now going to be in F (while the rest of the family languishes in J :p).

Rebecca, wisely, is saying nothing....
