I post this really to thank the various contributors here. 2 months ago I had nver heard of a "mileage run", let alone the various options to accumulate ffp's.

In particular the ideas that maximise points I am grateful for include:

NRT - DEL - NRT
HKG - JFK - LAX - DFW

the thread about AA new business class convinced me to go

YUL- DFW - LGW

The mileage earners that I would not have thought of

LHR - DXB - LHR and JNB - HKG - SYD

All of the above would be second nature to those here, all I can do is promise to write a trip report, which will be a pale shadow of kiwiflyer's but hey I'll give it a go.

Thanks all.

Oh no! What kind of dragon have we created  .

Look forward to the trip report :D .

Just curious; last year on a done4 paper ticket only some flights showed up on the QF site-others on BA and others on AA. Does the entire trip show up on checkmytrip.com?

It depends on which GDS was used to lodge the original booking by your airline/TA. If the TA booked on a system that was not Armadeus, then the QF site (and CheckMyTrip.com which is a view into Amadeus) will only show the QF and BA flights and any other airline's flights that are direct connections to QF or BA flights.

You need to ask the TA which GDS they use and then view the itinerary via the on-line view of that system (VirtuallyThere.com for Sabre, ViewTrip.com for Galileo, CheckMyTrip.com for Amadeus).

Could be AONE5

Many thanks for the people who have helped so far. A great link on FT pointed me at the place on the http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/ow prices OW site which gives you prices from different from different countries.

http://www.oneworld.com/ow/air-travel-options/round-the-world-fares/oneworld-explorer#fare-estimate

I have almost persuaded myself that if I ticket through AA I can pick it up from NRT and do the trip as AONE5 for not much more than a DONE5 bought in oz.

The itinerary is nrt-del-nrt-hkg-jfk-lax-dfw-yvr-dfw-yul-dfw-lhr-hel,lhr-dxb-lhr-cpt-jnb-hkg-syd with a couple of legs left over.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The itinerary is nrt-del-nrt...
That could be a problem. You can only have one international departure form your country of origin.

I have an Air NZ booking, booked online with Air NZ - and I can't get it to show up in either of those 3 systems....

NZ has its own systems and uses neither of those mentioned.
