Me and Mrs Ashleyn are off on the long awaited USA trip on Saturday. Mostly in J thanks to this site and multiple CC bonuses. Usually I'd be very excited but recently I've been plagued with retina tears. The most recent was last week in one eye and the other eye is currently full of silicon oil. This resulted in having to get new travel insurance this week to cover the per-existing. Has anyone else had similar experiences with eye issues and travel ? Any tips ?

Have also had a tear in my retina on Christmas Eve a few years ago. Was treated by emergency staff and referred to an ophthalmologist who performed laser surgery 2 weeks after. Only minor discomfort at the time and no problems since. Have sometimes thought about what would happen if flying, but so far so good. Hope you find a solution to your problem.

Sounds like you were given the bum's rush. ;)

On a serious note, always seek advice from your medical professional before flying with potential eye problems.

B....y I pad and my fingers. !!!!! I agree with what you say about checking. Was told by my ophthalmologist not to get on a flight if I ever experienced it before flying. At the time it was quite an unpleasant experience.
