WP treatment in Y

Anyone had experience flying on QR in Y as a OWE? Anything special?

The "special" treatment includes no access to the lounges in the premium terminal and no QFF points earning in almost all whY booking classes. I've been wanting to give them some of my business, but they make me feel too special.... :)

That's a bit disappointing. But as long as I have somewhere to go – and it looks like the Qatar Silver lounge is accessible to OW ≥ Sapphire.

The tickets I'm thinking of booking cost only $60 more for V (which does earn) than S (which doesn't). 0.25 is a lame earning rate, but at least I'll be getting SCs.

that has nothing to do with QR policy and everything to do with QF seeing QR as a competitor (rightly so). Same bull**** earning with MH on QFF also.
 
This might be OT but this lowly SG was greeted by the CSM on both legs of my MEL-LHR flight last weekend and kept supplied with nibbles and drinks the whole way.

Nothing out of keeping with the cabins I was in, but nonetheless much appreciated.
 
Upper deck A380 Y SYD-HKG was very good the other day. I fell asleep quickly after take off so missed the FA greeting, but she came back after meal service to say hi and ask if she could do anything. Having enjoyed the mango/cream Weiss ice-cream bar, I asked if there was any chance of a second. About 10 minutes later she comes back with a plate and a tub of ice-cream from F, apologising that they had run out of the mango ice cream bars but hoping I might enjoy the alternative she provided. And I most certainly did!

Having now booked the flights, I tried to select seats. Doing this on QR's website, I get to the end of the process and it tells me "At least one of your specific seat requests could not be processed", for each of my selections. Should I have the ability to select seats? If so maybe I'll need to ring up to select them.

I think there may be a problem on QR's end, I've got paid J & F flights coming up on QR with my QFF OWE on the booking my seat selection gave me an error, but it still saved my seat selection.

Maybe give their AUS office a call to check seat selections.
 
MEL-SIN - Lost my seat selection of 23A&B and was moved to 25A&B, no-one could tell me why. Luckily the first lounge moved us to 45EF and had DG blocked so that made up for it. CSM came around shortly after take-off and introduced herself and warmly welcomed me back and we had a quick chat. Asked if I wanted anything and I asked for a glass of white from the front IF it wasn't too much trouble. Was promptly delivered and regular refills from the crew of the nicer stuff from the front.

SIN-MEL - Was greeted by the CSM shortly after take-off. He blurted out my name wrong, quickly said nice to see me onboard and asked if I wanted anything. Asked for a glass of white from the front and he did bring it back after a few mins which was great. However, refills after that by the VERY grumpy/rude FA were just of the plastic bottles from the Economy cart. I hinted that plastic bottles don't work with a wine GLASS but he didn't get the hint. The FA did a good job of annoying many guests by stuffing up their pre-ordered meals, asking "what type of Vegetarian are you?" etc etc and slamming pillows and blankets in the overhead lockers before landing.

He didn't really talk to the other crew much and just grumped about the cabin looking angry.

It was interesting that he wasn't wearing a name badge or any other Qantas badge either......

I was going to say something to the CSM but I doubt he would have been interested

However, it seemed there were 2 CSM's on board as another one came by just before landing (with an iPad, but got my name mixed up with my partner) and asked how the flight was, I just said it was not too bad and left it at that.

Seems to be a pretty common theme on the SIN-MEL flights that the crew are less than helpful.

Will try EK on the way back home next time and risk the 3-4-3 seating, but hope they give a WP an upgrade :)
 
I would've thought crew without name badge and being rude is not acceptable. People should at least complain about bad service, not let it slip.

Yep I noticed the lack of a name badge or any other QF emblems/flags/wings etc on him as soon as I boarded, and I think it's very poor form.

Will shoot an email to QF tonight actually given a description of the male FA, and that should be easy enough for QF to work out, if they want to bother doing anything about it.

I flew Jetstar domestic on Saturday. My boarding passes included the code QFFP to indicate QFF programme membership. (I assume the P stands for Programme and not Platinum.) They also used the code HVC, presumably to indicate a High Value Customer. So I'd assume that even if the boarding pass/manifest doesn't indicate a passenger's actual QFF status tier, it's possible to draw some informed conclusions if a listing says "HVC QFFP".

You paid for a plus or max bundle? All QFFP does is say you're going to earn points for the flight.

Yeah, I was on a Plus bundle, so it also had the V05A code for the $5 food/drink voucher. But my assumption is that it's the "HVC" next to the "QFFP" that implies the passenger is a Platinum member, not the QFFP on its own.

It's a fair assumption. But I would expect chairman's lounge types get HVC. Not just any old platinum.

QFFP just means Programme, and appears for anyone that adds their QFF # regardless of status.
As for HVC I flew MEL-OOL-MEL on JQ with a starter pack as a WP and wife as SG and HVC didn't appear on our boarding passes.

Unless this is a new thing implemented to appease QF Perth pax flying to SIN?

Just out of interest to try and explain how HVC came about (except for being a WP),
1.) Did you purchase a starter pack or full economy fare?
2.) Were you on a QF flight number or JQ flight number?
3.) Did you purchase a exit row or front row seat?
 
I had always though the QFFP stood for Qantas Frequent Flyer Points and was there to indicate that points were applicable to the fare purchased. Then again I don't recall purchasing a jetstar fare without going the points option so have nothing to compare it to
