PR J return Aus-Saudi via MNL ~$3K

This won’t be for everyone: the destination is Saudi Arabia and there’s a transit through MNL 😢, but I just booked from Australia to Medinah return in J for $3235, over New Years period.

So for the three people still reading, there’s plenty of interesting possibilities for just going onwards to Europe from MED or from JED having got 3/4 of the way there. I’m planning to actually visit KSA and some other Gulf countries so works perfectly for me. VA have released my handcuffs with their VFF program changes, so this really is just a BFOD booking and I don’t care where the points/SC earn is going.

It’s a PR ticket and in early Dec there’s BNE or SYD to MED for mid $2800’s. A little dearer for Dammam (DMM). Some days have MEL departure availability.

Mine is a little more again as I’m going open jaw at the Saudi end. Departing Aus late Dec I have:
SYD-MNL PR A333 - long layover overnight
MNL-RUH PR A333
RUH-MED SV A320
then returning
DMM-RUH SV A320
RUH-MNL PR A333 overnight, then 12hr transit.
MNL-SYD PR A333 overnight

I’m going to catch the Haramain fast train from Medinah to KAEC for a couple of nights, then on to Jeddah for a couple more. Then fly to KWI for four nights then finally BAH for four nights. To get back to the PR ticket I reckon I’ll book a car transfer from Bahrain city across the causeway to DMM.

There’s a long overnight layover in MNL on the way out, so I’ll just head out of T1 and get a taxi or Grab to a hotel near Mall of Asia. It’s 12hrs during the day transit in MNL on the way back, so might do the same thing again.

Nice. I looked at getting to Jeddah on Saudi Arabian (often very cheap) but in the end went with the inevitable QR.

Please do come back and tell us about Madinah and KAEC; I'm going to Jeddah, Madinah and Al Ula and KAEC in February by car.
