Its a no for me, and I've been very hesitant about buying into the sensationalism in the news. As the medical SME for my work, where we monitor safety and welfare and provide support to mobile work forces and international students coming to Australia, I monitor WHO, State, and Federal sites for the most accurate information. The fact that WHO declared it a PHEIC yesterday raises my concerns.

Its not just if you're healthy, would you want to bring it back and expose Mrs Elite? Kids? The H2H spread (without showing signs and symptoms before passing the virus) is a worry.

We have just cancelled our waitlist for SQ12, and are sticking to SQ36, just to limit our unnecessary exposure to others in more countries then we have to.

I've attached the heat map of cases in China. REPORTED cases are increasing by about 1000 a day. Still lower than the flu, but all things considered....

I doubt you will have a choice. China will be smart enough to know that short term pain of closing their borders is worth it. I think that they are just waiting for a few more countries to do it so it's an easy sell at home.

We are visiting HK briefly mid-March (all going well), but would not be going to "Mainland" China in the next few weeks.

No. Business can be completed via other means. The outcome for a no decision will range from mild inconvenience for not going > total and major satisfaction that you didn't.

Time will tell which one it will be.

The potential for getting quarantined / isolated / refused entry is high, and overrules all other concerns IMO.

I'm due to transit through China in June and am actively looking for alternatives.

Given the current situation, I would strongly suggest against it.

And I am writing that from China, waiting to depart in a couple of days....

No from me. Trip planned in April and am actively looking at an alternative destination and am considering no travel at all instead. Still many months away but am not keen on taking the risk.

Of course you must go. The Chinese media is accurately and honestly reporting all instances of current infections and the spread of the virus.

If they say it's safe then it's safe. The WHOs declaration of a Global Emergency needn't be considered.

/sarcasm

And we need not worry about the feckless WHO having been corrupted by China do we?

No from me for a trip in 2 weeks time.

My nephew, wife, 3 kids and mother in law have been on a Chinese NY holiday and business trip in Guangzhou since 1/1/2020. In early January they also travelled to see old Nanjing and Shenzhen.

They are not due back in Oz till 7/2 but are reporting that currently everyone in Guangzhou is wearing masks, businesses are routinely checking temperatures of visitors and customers and the official line in the city is that they are discouraging unnecessary journeys.

As of yesterday he reports a shortage of masks and hand sanitiser.. so if you must fly to China for business please take a lot in your luggage !

It's a no for me. But not because of nCoV! Just don't enjoy it as a country on my visits previously.

C'mon airline and hotel specials as everyone else is dropping their travel!!

There’s a bit of a pattern emerging here.

I think that the noes have it. 😀
