Would you travel Air India?

I find it strange to be posting such a general question about a mainstream airline, but I'm going to fly my son on Air India (aeroplan points) home from Europe in July and I'm wondering what the 'community' thinks of the risk of flying with them?

I was actually meant to fly J in Air India last May but cancelled the trip for non-airline related reasons --- that was pre their airline disaster, but even then, I was reading about all the general choas on some of their flights (flights having to turn back for all kinds of unusual issues), and then the airline disaster happened, and then I think they had a plane(s) given non-conformance notices for flying without the proper certification.

I still think I'd take the risk, as in the scheme of risks (eg, driving a car), it's probably quite low, but it's the first time I've had any concern flying on a major airline.

Getting back to topic, has anyone flown J class internationally (B787) on AI RECENTLY (last 6 months), and what was the experience like? (and would you do it again?).
Informed responses please, not opinons from anyone who hasn't done it recently.
I flew MEL-DEL in J in January. Cabin is outdated 2-2-2 seating with limited storage. The centre seats are the best, as you have direct aisle access without having to step over a companion or having them step over you. The amenities doesn't have toothpaste & brush and they're not available in the toilets either. Pyjamas are provided on this route. I have no complaints with the cabin crew (who were very attentive) and the food, even though I hardly ate anything as I'd had dinner in the lounge. The IFE is not up to standard, with an extremely limited range of movies.

The ground staff at both ends aren't up to the same standard as the cabin crew, and are not up to the business class standards of all other *A airlines I've flown.

I might fly with them again, BUT ONLY if I had a single ticket with a short transit in DEL and there was nothing else available
