I am flying from MCO and want to end up in MAN. There is no availability via JFK, so I have the option of MCO to LGW in a 777 of MIA to LHR in a 744. The good thing about the 777 is avoiding LHR, and the extra US connection.

Just wondering what others preference where in regards to the 777 or the 744.

Seems like a no-brainer to me. If you have a chance to avoid a transfer at MIA, and avoid LHR altogether for the somewhat less offensive LGW, I'd just take the 777. The difference in comfort between OCW and NCW is variable, depending on the personal preference of the person to whom you speak.

I also imagine that, being a prime leisure route, the MCO-LGW sector will be on one of BA's three-class 772's, which will give you a chance of getting a seat right up the front where F is located on the four-class aircraft.

To me it would be a no brainer. Take the 777 to LGW and avoid LHR entirely; much more civilised airport to arrive at and you avoid several hours drive to MIA

From LGW getting to Manchester is pretty easy with BA or by train

The flight is indeed operated with a 3 class aeroplane with the 1st 5 rows being business class
