I am on a RT award ticket BNE-SIN-IST this month.

Let's say I test positive to Covid in Turkey and need to delay my return flight. This is a normal Y class award. Having already flown the outbound, can I change the return online to a later date assuming Y award is available? Or does this need to go through the call centre? I think charges are waived until end March? Has anyone had to do this?

Yes SQ award booked with Krisflyer all on SQ metal.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You would need to contact the Silverkris contact centre to see if you can get it amended. The SQ service centre has, due to COVID and cut backs, gone to the dogs. It used to be fantastic.

You can call them but you often get someone in the Phillipines that seems to be able to little else other than answer the phone. I've called a couple of times only to get through and be told amending award bookings is beyond their scope and training. They say someone will call you back. But they don't. There's a web form you could use to submit a COVID flight change and also a chat function.

The chat function takes a long long time. Be prepared to wait... sorry it's not more positive.

I've got a sense that changes to date/time will be OK even if travel has commenced, as these only require revalidation (i.e. the new dates are within original validity of the ticket, and not adding stopover), and not ticket re-issue. But there's every chance that only 1 in 4 agents will actually know how this can be done.

Unless wanting to take advantage of the complementary stopover in one direction on the saver award, SQ awards are almost always better booked as oneways to maintain a higher degree of flexibility.

When I made Mrs&MissM bookings I called to get the return sector added into the out bound. My logic in doing so was that if SQ cancelled any of the flight I would be able to cancel the whole itinerary if no suitable options could be found. If on 2 seperate bookings and either one was cancelled by SQ I may be up for the redeposit fee if I cancelled the other. The flights are currently BNE-SEA-EWR-ADL. Based on what the original post I had not considered this. With this in mind would it be worth separating into 2 seperate flights. I am also travelling back on the same flights as them but on a seperate PNR.

Absolutely my experience. They are utterly useless.

If you want to change dates the web form is the best way to do it.First check availability of new dates. However some times it takes a week or 2 to complete it.
Although the web form says if SQ cancels your flight you can claim a refund using the web form today it wouldn't let me do it. They cancelled our booked HND-SIN flight and the replacement wasn't satisfactory so we didn't accept it.Looks like I will waste hours on the phone or chat.

Now I also cancelled our 2 F awards SIN-FRA. Was easier to just cancel. Cost $S200 redeposit fee bur $S104.60 taxes refunded. Worth not having to waste time.
