Bought two of these on the QF flight to USA last month and put one in each of our old iPhones. Decided they are a waste of money, chewed up money very quickly so will revert to just using SMS on our current phones next time. It was an expensive trial.

You need to look at any of the global roaming SIM cards for rates and what not. Often SMS are a lot more expensive than you may think, and calling rates can vary greatly.
