The Ritz Carlton is now open, Shanghai will grab back the title soon enough, mind you I always liked staying at the Westin Stamford in Singapore when it had the title, I am not sure but I suspect its still the worlds highest with Balconies!

THE world's highest hotel has opened its doors in Hong Kong, housed in the city's tallest skyscraper and offering unrivalled panoramic views of the world-famous Victoria Harbour.

Towering some 490 metres above the bustling, chaotic streets of the southern Chinese city, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel is making a grand comeback after temporarily closing in 2008.

Whilst I am sure it will have a great view, it will be way too expensive for me to stay there.

I have been to HKG many times, and i would have to say that the day i visited the Ritz it was the clearest day in HKG that i have ever experienced. See photos from the new Ozone bar on the 118th floor at the Ritz

(Sorry not sure how to rotate the the pics)

Amazing view, clear day, a little expensive, and there is a hefty minimum spend if you want to sit in one of two corners, but great place to go (on a clear day) staff are a little slow when it gets busy but thinking that they are sill finding their feet.

Now just need to organise a stay.

The views from that high would be amazing but unless I win the lotto, date someone rich or inherit alot of money, the closest hotel I will be staying at for the time being is the W HK ;)

It should be the disputed highest hotel in the world, as it only occupies the top third of the tower :)p). It’s like the whole Q1 debacle, being the tallest residential tower in the world, despite a massive spire that doesn’t have any space to hang a TV.

I actually visited the site when it was being built, making it to the 47th floor. A few months prior I had stood on the top of the previous tallest building in Hong Kong, Two IFC, located directly across the harbour from ICC (and you can see it being built… just… in the background, through the haze).

Conveniently located right next door!
