I have just booked a return flight to Singapore on BA for $1080 plus taxes on WT+. An absolute bargain given that the cheapest internet flight (discount economy) available on QF is $60 less.

Status Credits are double, plus you get the WT+ 10% bonus for FF points.

I believe the special is available until 25 September and is called 'Roar into Singapore'.

Sully, having just done a WT+ ticket to LHR and return, believe me, it's well worth it - even beter for you, fare sale time! Best seats...17AB or JK, IMHO (if you don't need access to hand luggage, as this is first row) or 20AB or JK (last row).

You should also look at online check in (OLCI), as you can check-in up to 12 hours prior to flight and confirm your seat. If you are BA Executive Club, then you can check-in 24 hours in advance. I used it - brilliant :wink: - go to www.ba.com and register as a OLCI member. Have a look at the interactive example of how to use it. You'll never look back.

Could you please explain why 17AB or JK or 20AB are good seats ? I'm intrigued now !

icemann, QF be up with the times and bring in OLCI - good god no, they'll be one of the last to introduce it :wink:. If they did, it would only be for Intl as everybody knows tht Dom seating availability is only done at check-in.

BAEC Pacific Rim was closed (as I was one of the unlucky ones!) but not BAEC worldwide. If you have a UK/European address, then you can join BAEC 8) . OLCI - anybody, anywhere can join. Although I have access to a UK based address, why re-join another OW program when I put everything to my QF program. There are also problems with using the BAEC -24 hour but crediting miles to QF program. I thought better than to risk the inherent problems (see FlyerTalk's BA forum).

17AB and JK are first row WT+ and slightly forward of everybody else in WT+ cabin. Legroom is excellent and you can use the wall to bring your feet up (and reducing the odaema-like swelling of your legs caused by inactivity in long haul travel). You get served meals first and often the left hand door is used for de-planing (need I say more).

20AB and JK are the last row in WT+ and you can recline the entire journey without having to worry about your fellow paxs. No reduction in recline was apparent.

With a 2 x 4 x 2 layout, the WT+ cabin is good that you only have 1 seat to climb over to get to the aisle. If you are by yourself, any aisle seat would be good. If you are into Trip Reports, window seat (A and K) are a must.

Hi Lindsay, and welcome back.

I am somewhat confused about your references to WT+ seats. I am currently booked in seat 29D for the trip to SIN, which is middle & aisle second from the front of WT+. This is in a 747 where the WT+ is rows 28-31. The BA website only refers to this and the configuration in the 777s, which is 21-25. The reference you make seems to be for business class, but I can find no consistency in the numbering system they use compared to your seats.

I am not disagreeing with you as you obviously have the boarding pass to prove your seat number, but I would like to know what you travelled on.

It does depend which configuration 744 you're on. This might help:

WT+ rows 28-31
WT+ rows 17-21

www.seatexpert.com is a really useful site.

You can also check which aircraft on a given day have a particular WT+ configuration. Go to www.seatmap.com , enter the details of the flight, and use W as the class.

So for example on seatmap:
15 October 2003 BA 18 W MEL SIN, shows WT+ as rows 17-21.
15 October 2003 BA 16 W SYD SIN, shows WT+ as rows 28-31

Ta Lindsay, the BA site didn't list the 744s. Both of the links you sent are useful. I hope my FF preference is able to give me what I want and I am sure to use the BA link next Sunday morning to get the best seat possible.

Believe me, Willyroo (aka the QF Moderator on FlyerTalk) knows more about this particular area than I will ever know. Ever being the gracious gentleman (having had the pleasure of meeting Willyroo a number of times in the past year, including coming out for a drink on my bucks night), he very politely ignored that you had made (but at the same time, gave you the opportunity to see the error of your ways)...

Actually, thank you for pointing out this fare option, as my QF Res friend in Singapore rang me up today (as we had missed each other during my recent trip, but she "looks" over all my bookings) and I quizzed her about it as well as ringing QF Premium Res Australia. Other fare conditions are:

1. ex-BNE, -SYD or -MEL
2. Destination either BKK or SIN
4. Your booking deadline was correct - 25 September
3. Outbound leg must be travelled on or before 15 November 2003
4. 35 day maximum stay away (thus completion must be before 20 December 2003 and the Xmas busy period)

I'm getting me one of these!! as I have on trip back to SIN to see two clients and I can make it prior to 15 November.

Lots of good information in this thread. I'm planning to fly WT+ to Munich via Heathrow in Dec 04 - I've just come back from a trip to France and Italy flying QF Business on an award flight and I don't know whether I could go back to an economy seat.

I prefer window seats and was wondering if 17A would have any restrictions on legroom from the emergency exit door. If not, I think that would be the seat to book. Any advice on my chances of getting the seat - I'm a QF Club Silver and have my preferences logged with Qantas. I gather that I'd need to register seating preferences with BA somehow.

You should use checkmytrip.com and OLCI for your trip. There are some amazing tools on the web these days, I just wish I knew about more of them - I only really discovered them through my FlyerTalk participation and have people like Willyroo, thadocta and Dave Noble to thank.

When I was in the RAAF I got to fly J SYD-LAX return and enjoyed it but went back to Y for two holidays to the US and two to Europe. I'd like to fly J all the time, but when I have to pay for the trip I really can't justify it. WT+ seems a good compromise with the extra room (although not as spacious as J).

I'll be booking the flight early so I'll use the web tools to check seats. I registered for MyBA to use OLCI but I noticed that Executive Club members get priority. As a QC Silver / OW Ruby, does BA recognise this in lieu of Executive Club, given that Australians can no longer join BA Exec Club?

I trust you use something like ITN to check available seating for your flights (although note it doesn't give BA any more - spat between Amex and BA put paid to that) and Check my Trip (once you have ticketed the flights)

Sorry, OW or QF status means nought. I was one of those BAEC Pacific members who got closed out on. Of course, if you have an English address you can be a BAEC member. As a dual passport holder, I have "one" :wink: but have only registered for OLCI.
