Note that the two letters I ‘hit’ in rows one and two are both different, so I had four letters already to make my guess in row three.

I’ve been trying off and on for the past month, to work out whether it is better to find more letters (and therefore also eliminate more letters) in the first three guesses. The final three guesses are then just placing or ordering the known letters. My Saturday game was traditional placement-focused whilst today was more letter-focused. I’m leaning toward the latter actually being a better overall strategy. ie: even if hitting a vowel or two early, it’s still better to search for and find/eliminate common consonants in the first couple of guesses.

Now, this is probably because I’m more focused on solving every day rather than solving as in as few guesses as possible; have never had an X/6 so I’m protecting my streak in a sense. Also means you can’t play ‘hard mode’ (which I’d also refer to as silly mode as it introduces more luck than skill to the eventual outcome) as using ‘eliminator’ guesses is important to being able to solve the game.

Enough rambling; happy wordling, and hopefully no more idiotic Americanisms for a long time.
