I'll be shopping elsewhere if ties are cut.

Re: Woolworths rethinking Qantas - or a slow news day

Yes reading the comments on the story it looks like there will be tumbleweeds blowing through every Woolies store in the wake of customers rushing over to Aldi and Coles. Probably make no real difference to us as we only have Woolies near us - Coles is several km away - so despite missing the points we'd probably keep shopping there.

Funny though, you'd think nearly everyone would have an EDR card but when I'm in line and the question is popped to the person in line in front of me they almost always shake their head. Probably like me in those stores that ask for FlyBuys.

Without qantas points EDR is really nothing, occasionally might get a few cents off an item points(and bonus points are the only thing keeping me going).
I do find EDR are better than flybuys at using their data, EDR seems to be pretty spot on with their targeting of offers/recommendations. Flybuys just dump any offer/recommendation in a scattergun approach I find.

Re: Woolworths rethinking Qantas - or a slow news day

Will any change affect our Woolworths Money/Qantas Visa credit card and the points earn on that ?

This has literally been the only thing keeping me shopping at Woolworths rather than Coles to be honest. Coles is cheaper, stocks a superior range, and is more conveniently located for me. If this disappears, Woolworths loses me as a customer - there would no longer be any reason I can justify shopping there.

Is Woolworths now cheaper than Coles?

The reports/speculation I've seen suggest the entire relationship is being negotiated.

Re: Woolworths rethinking Qantas - or a slow news day

We usually shop at Coles as it is a far better supermarket when compared to our local Woolies so if they move on from the QFF partnership it will not matter to me.

Woolworths doesn't seem to be doing its core business rather well?

And... speak of the devil, look what just came into my inbox?

I don't swipe my FlyBuys because apart from the misnomer, I have never seen any value in it.

I used to see it that way until i noticed the Bestwestern Voucher. I can always use those. And i would probably still feel that way if i hadnt transferred to Medibank Private from Bupa and they set it up at the time. Last week they offered me the 10,000 points targeted promo for 4 spends of 40 bucks. I can manage that easily. I doubt i will be offered another one at such a good rate.

equals mass exodus to another credit card offering QF points.

My QF account shows that in the past 12 months I have earned 374088 QF points from credit cards in the last 12 months, so credit card points earning is fairly important to me

Re: Woolworths rethinking Qantas - or a slow news day

Can't help but wonder if the leaking of this story isn't a deliberate negotiating ploy with Qantas, perhaps to encourage reduced purchase cost for points. Or am I just being cynical )

Re: Woolworths rethinking Qantas - or a slow news day

FWIW I don't think it's just a slow news day. Woolworths and Qantas have been negotiating for some time and I think we can expect a major announcement in the coming weeks.

I would expect that if Woolworths did ditch Qantas, any new program would simply offer grocery discounts, similar to Flybuys but without the Etihad partnership or toasters.

I for one will stop shopping at Woolworths if/when this happens.

It seems pretty obvious that Woolies is looking at everything.. Masters is set to be cut loose.. Maybe if they sold brands people knew, and you could have used your EDR card there then that might have helped. EDR's are the only reason I shop at Woolies. It costs but as they say you got to spend money to make money. It's also the biggest earning component for QFF. I doubt that they would like it to go.. But it's not only supermarkets. I have the plat Woolies credit card, and a few insurance policies that earn me points. What happens to those?

Certainly will stop my loyalty with WW

I don't have Coles anywhere near me, nearest one is about 35 Klm but I do have an Aldi and a big IGA within 600 meters. More convienient than the local Woolies at 2 Klm

Re: Woolworths rethinking Qantas - or a slow news day

My shop would stop at Woolies if they stopped points

Re: Woolworths rethinking Qantas - or a slow news day

I'm obviously in a minority of 1 :(

I'd continue shopping at Woollies since our local is far superior to Coles AND I can still buy brands at Woollies that Coles has long stopped stocking.

BD
