Woolworths gift card thread

Have used a card today with no issue. But I have been having difficulty with their phone line to get a balance.

Do they charge you to check the balance?
I've just come back from O/S and decided to check the balance online: what a nonsense! Have to set up a log in, etc., etc. In fact, I had to set a up a different login for each card I wanted to check. Took me ages. Not sure I want to play anymore.

They don't charge by phone .... and it's a 1800 number.

I recently spoke to them about the difficulty of checking multiple cards online and was told they are looking into it.

Yeah I gave up. Used my last few to pay our workers compensation bill. No more

If I kept going I'd need to claim workers compo :p

On Monday I tried to use a 5% off $500 Caltex Star Card that I had bought with a 5% off Wish Card. It didn’t work. Turns out the card reader failed and my card is ok according to Caltex.
I am assured the 6 $500 cards I have are all ok. Saving $300 is just a game.

Yes they have had that promo twice this past year so l had the opportunity to do many for the office and some more for the family.
So on Monday in Perth which is the lowest fuel price day I go with the Caltex Starcash card, the 4 cents off Woolies loyalty plus the Myer One card. Naturally I bought a swag of Wish cards using Amex Platinum Edge to gain quite a bit extra just before Amex halved the points earn.
It probably gets around 30 cents off per litre if you value the Kris miles at a retail air fare I don’t buy.

You take your Woolies gift cards in at a slow time and convert them to Caltex Starcash when you see the 5% off sign.
Once you have a stash of these Starcards bought at a total of 10% off you are ready.
For the fuel purchase you go Myer One and Woolies Reward then the Caltex Star Cash card.
Your $500 Star Cash cost you $450 with the doubler but only when you see the sign of 5% off inside the Caltex Woolworths store.
The normal Caltex station does not take Woolies gift cards so avoid them.

I have a big pile of $500 Woolies gift cards just in case Quickstatus.
Funny thing is I have never had anyone use a Woolies gift card in my Woolies checkout line.
Also I have not seen a Caltex Star Cash being used at my service station.
Becoming one of the few suits me fine......

I don’t have a big pile of WGC as there is an opportunity cost of not parking the funds elsewhere.

But yes I’ll look out for the trigger. I’m assuming the e-WGC will also work to convert to CSc at the C-W petrol stations

No I use plastic ones as my Woolworths Caltex lacks the ability to process an e gift card. That is probably why the double dipping is possible. I think I have done a bit less than $20k worth so the fuel saving is only about $2,000.
Woolies had to upgrade their supermarkets to prevent Woolies gift cards buying other gift cards. Fixing petrol stations has not happened. I have never seen a gift card worth buying at my service station.
I was after the value of the points from buying those Woolies gift cards prior to the Amex changes as I valued the transaction at 17% saving at the time. It is hard to invest and get a 17% return. That is valuing Kris Miles at retail saving on air fares.
Just remember this is purely a game you can play with an RAC card or equivalent , a great credit card and a computer or iPad. Today I think you can only get 11% value and Woolies have reduced the number of gift cards per transaction to 10 at any one time.
That means the maximum is $5,000 a time.

Hard to justify the Uber gift card for 1,000pts after getting a few for 2,000 flybuys just last week.

It's actually 2000 points on a $50 Google Play, Uber or Netflix gift card and 4000 points on a $100 Adrenaline, The Hotel Card or Gourmet Traveller Restaurant gift card

You're right. My apologies. Guess that shows that these haven't been popular cards/deals.
