Woolworths gift card thread

$105.26 is the amount I place onto the WISH card. Purchase a $105.26 WISH card from the WISH card site. You can purchase them for any amount you like.

You may be confused between the WISH card value and the VISA ONLY card value and/or purchase price.

It may be worth you reading back over the past few pages of messages in this thread to assist you to understand.

A $105.26 WISH card costs exactly $100. You have $100 value on your VISA ONLY card. There is no need to split a purchase for a $105.26 WISH card purchase when you use a 1 x $100 VISA ONLY card.

Again: None of this is mandatory. You can purchase these cards however you like. I purchase in a particular format to suit my needs. I'm not claiming my way is the only way or the best way to do this.

I'm a bit confsed
Yes 5% off 105.26 is 100.
These gift cards are 105.95 each.

If your using 'inception and using your old promo gift cards. Then aren't you losing opportunity costs on other transactions that you can't use amex and assuming you can get unlimited gift cards

I have been weighing this up as well, but I guess it comes down to how many cards you are putting through :) Previous days there were no cap hence arguably no opportunity cost and effectively you are just buying points at a very good price. Now however, there is a OC haven't done the math but for the extra few points between MC and Amex I would say card inception wins out still.

OK I have to share this one, I guarantee all checkouts will not allow this, so don't bother unless your friendly checkout attendant insists on it:).

Having bought 4 cards I returned to buy a further 4 (as far as I am aware, this is not an issue as the limit is 10, so I shouldn't feel guilty, but I have that type of personality:oops: so it was about 45min after, as I had some lunch in the centre). Upon returning the service attendant recognised me and said "back for more?". Of cause she was simply being friendly, but my guilty personality felt a need to make an excuse for returning to buy another 4 cards. Thinking quick on my feet, and having noticed the difference in card images, I said "yes, I bought 4 cards for my nieces and nephews for easter, but just realised they have pictures of wine glasses on them, I would hate to be the uncle who encourages them to drink, I will just have to spend them myself". To my surprise her response was, why don't you just use the Visa cards to buy the new cards:confused:, I said are you sure you can do that????(with a very confused almost breaking voice), and she replied of cause you can, we accept Visa, I will just need to authorise your signatures.

So she proceeded to help me process through the purchase of gift cards with the identical same gift cards, and receiving another $40 credit in the process. Now that's what I call inception!! (assuming I understand the meaning)

Pretty good effort, but not quite the best route to inception.

As I grow older I'm becoming a fan of the Sunday drive. Today I passed a sign that said 20 is the limit. ;)

On a completely unrelated matter ;) a service desk manager at my local stylised apple retailer has confirmed that stylised apple HQ has put a halt on the restocking of the $100 per kilo apples. ;)

Sure would have been nice had you posted this about 10 minutes earlier ;) I just got done searching through 7 of this retailer you speak of, for a massive haul of one GC.

Well for me using VISAOne bought with Cashrewards to pay my Tax works best. 3 MR points per $ at 0.54% but actually being upfront due the $10 Cashback. Other avenues to pay tax are not that attractive.

Using VISAone for cashrewards to buy more VISA means no extra FF points unless I am missing something.

Stopped in at my local tonight. They've restocked maybe 10 cards.

I bought another 4 and paid for 1 of them with a discounted wish card on self serve.

Yes that is a strategy I think. But I think the opportunity cost is the least if you spend these visa1 cards in places that don't accept amex or PayPal. So that you get the maximum benefit per transaction.

Edit: does anyone know of if any restocking is going on?

You do appreciate that the ATO does not earn any FF points on many cards and in the main only reduced FF on those that do? Even if you have a card that does earn FF points due to the surcharge the FF gain is expensive.

In my case too the vast majority of my spend earns at 2 or 3 MR points, either on CC or on EFTPOS gained at 3MR points per $. Any VISA or MC spend is minimal and in anycase is ata better rate than I could earn Ff points normally at the ATO.

So at least for me gaining 3MR Points per tax $ owed while making money is excellent value as otherwise points gained from the ATO are expensive.

I wonder if anyone has been crazy enough to travel to regional country safeway/woolies stores to procure these cards?

Happened to be a fair way out and away from Sydney today... Woolies all cleaned out too! :D

Still haven't managed to find a single one in stock. *sigh*

I didn't know ato payments didn't get points for many cards

Well no wonder if you had a big ato bill you'd buy these gift cards. 3 pts at a cost of. 54/3

So that's 10k pts for $18
Or 300k pts for $540

No wonder you guys are buying!!!

I wonder what the most any woolies has stocked in one shot

Agree, I would rather earn 3 points @0.5c each than 2 points @0.3c each as my spend/bills are (largely) finite

Hi ,
Can confirm restocking is happening - A woolies I cleaned out last week had another 7 today.
Tally up to 35, and looking for more :)

Reportedly Woolworths is now well aware that they have sold more VISA GCs they had in stock. So it will not surprise now if those that hit this promo hard for very large purchases well above 10 get audited.

as in, if you have already bought 10 for example i nthe past, and you go and buy more, they wont allow it or some sort of alarm will go off???

As in you only get credited bonus points for a maximum of 10 cards. Many on here have reported that they were credited bonus points beyond the 10 cards per EDR account.
